I'd blow my head off with a large caliber firearm before I moved there

Triangle Could See Snow/Sleet Mix, Freezing Rain Thursday

Posted: Today at 7:47 a.m.
Updated: 4 minutes ago

Raleigh — The Triangle could see some wintry-mix precipitation Thursday morning, WRAL Meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

“I’m not saying it’s really going to be a lot of snow. Most likely, [it will] maybe be a little snow/sleet mix, and maybe even some freezing rain,” she said. “It looks like it could be pretty nasty, at least in some areas, Thursday morning.”

Moisture moving north from the Gulf of Mexico into Texas and Louisiana on Tuesday was expected to track into North Carolina by Thursday morning. Along the way, some of the rain will turn into frozen precipitation, Gardner predicted.

Areas to the north and west of the Triangle will get the brunt of the winter weather, and the cut-off line for wintry precipitation will likely be just north of the capital city.

However, the morning ride to work could still get "tricky" throughout the Triangle, Gardner said. Only rain, though – not a wintry mix – will be coming down for the evening commute.

The Triangle could also get a good soaking when the mix turns to rain later Thursday.

“It’s going to be one of those cold rains,” Gardner said. "Hopefully, we'll get a good dose of rain out of this. Right now, that's what it looks like will happen."

Residents should bundle up this week as cold temperatures and breezy conditions persist into the weekend. On Thursday, temperatures were not predicted to get above 41 degrees.

Temperatures will drop into the low 20s on Tuesday night, and the lows will stay in the low 30s through Friday night.

Then, an Arctic blast will blow in this weekend, Gardner predicted, bringing temperatures down to a low of 18 degrees on Saturday night.

“I think a lot of us have been belly-aching about the cold temperatures this week, especially after coming off all those 70s last week,” Gardner said."

oh joy. someone call me thursday morning and remind my not to drive anywhere so I don't get run over by these raleigh fuckers who can't drive.
