one thing to remember about edwards is that he has accepted public matching funds which pretty much means that he probably won't be able to run much of a campaign on the same scale as clinton or obama (or most anyone else) at this point outside of small scale states like IA and NH 1/2/2008 4:44:24 PM |

This is from a recent one on one interview with a CNN reporter.
Quote : | "EDWARDS: And whoever comes out of Iowa with momentum is going to have more money than they know what to do with.
I mean John Kerry raised millions and millions of dollars just in the period of a few hours and days after the Iowa caucus, when he won in 2004.
Money will become irrelevant once somebody wins the Iowa caucus.
CROWLEY: But you can't raise but a certain amount of money. I think that's what they're saying here, is that they can raise as much money as they want and spend as much money as they want. You can't.
EDWARDS: But the problem with what they're saying is, if they don't win the Iowa caucus -- the winner of the Iowa caucus is going to have huge amounts of money pouring in. And if you're taking public financing, a huge percentage of that will be matched by the federal government. So I think as a practical matter, I'll have plenty of money to run this race.
But I don't think we're going to have an auction, I think we're going to actually have an election." |
Compared to previous years elections he's still set records. I mean he's not in the 100 millions like Hillary & Obama, but every presidential candidate who has ever run a campaign & won in the history of US presidential elections has done so with less money than that.

^Obama 38%, Edwards 30%, Hilary 29%
Huckabee 34%, Romney 24%, Thompson 14%, McCain 14%, Paul 10%, Guliani 4%
[Edited on January 4, 2008 at 12:31 AM. Reason : Lots of 4s in the republican numbers... just something odd.] 1/4/2008 12:29:54 AM |

iowa played out like that on purpose. it's better that mccain lost. neither huckabee or romney could beat clinton. and mccain is probably the only one that could beat obama. edwards could beat mccain. the republicans would never let huckabee from "arkansas" get the nomination. 1/4/2008 12:14:38 PM |
