I immediately thought of Christian Okoye.

But he did make a couple pro bowls so he probably doens't count.

He was unstoppable in Tecmo Super Bowl though.

Kevan Barlow. Was supposed to be the "real deal" after splitting time with Garrison Hearst and posting some insane average around 6 yards per carry. I remember reading an article where Mike Shanahan called the 9ers to congratulate them on getting the best RB in that year's draft. 49ers dump Hearst, give Barlow a new contract, and he does fuckall.

Alvin Harper. Helps Dallas win some Super Bowls, gets a big contract to be the #1 WR in Tampa, and then is never heard from again.

Reggie Brooks. Posts 1,000 yards (or close to it) as a rookie. Then disappears.

Richard Dumas. A brilliant rookie on the 92-93 Suns team that reached the NBA Finals. I think he ran into drug problems and his career tanked.

you are right about Kevin Barlow, he had a couple good seasons after Garrison Hearst finally hung em up. But he vanished shortly after especially with Frank Gore emerging these past two years.

I also vote for the who lives in the neighborhood down the street from me.

God, I loved Reggie Brooks. That was a really good selection.

MVP of the ACC tournament on a team with Dennis Scott and Kenny Anderson.

And this is a threadshaker.

#2 ranked highschooler in the country, supposed to be the shit. Logged probably ten career minutes in the NBA. Korleone Young.

Had a few decent years, but was ridiculously skinny and had a permanent case of Alligator Arms.

and bonus points for being the subject of this hilarious rant by Len Pastabelly.

Wait a minute, I looked for DAN AND DAVE and didn't see them yet!

wtf?

Quote :
"Early in 1992, Reebok hit on an advertiser's dream, discovering American decathletes Dan O'Brien and Dave Johnson, rivals who also happened to be co-favorites to win gold in Barcelona. The company devised an eight-month ad campaign, which featured the two (wearing Reeboks, of course), and their friends, in a series of ads boasting who would win. It was clever for two reasons: 1) Nobody outside of track and field ever heard of Dan and Dave before, and 2) the two really were almost evenly matched, with Dave holding a three-to-two lead over Dan in direct competition, but Dan boasting a higher best score in the event.

But at the U.S. Olympic Trials five weeks before the Games, the plan went awry. Dan blew the pole vault and failed to qualify for the Olympics. Reebok switched gears and ran some ads with Dan cheering on Dave for the title. But Dave finished a disappointing third in Barcelona.

Dan and Dave, the advertising campaign, actually turned out to be a success for Reebok. Dan and Dave, the decathlon rivalry, was the big bust.

Oh, by the way: Czech Robert Zmelik won the decathlon gold. Zmelik had also endorsed Reebok -- but not in the U.S. A Reebok-wearing unknown had won.

Brad Banks, the Iowa QB that was the runner up to Carson Palmer for the Heisman in 2002.

Even though he's not completely off the map, Ron Dayne.

Rick Mirer. #2 pick in the '93 NFL Draft. Rookie year and 2nd year were "OK" by young QB standards. Finished his career with a QB rating in the low 60's. Was supposed to be the next big thing in Seattle

i'm pretty sure that's a picture of rodney rogers (who could maybe be added to the list, though he did have a pretty long career in the NBA - i enjoyed watching him play/dunking for WFU

I wouldn't call him as much of a bust as Matt Kuchar, Paul Stankowski or Justin Rose. At least Duval was #1 in the world and won a major.

hahaha, but where is he now? I don't think he can even break 80 anymore. It'd be like Cecil Fielder hitting 3 homers next year, 2 the following year, and 4 in 2010

He admittedly stopped caring about golf.

I agree he fell off big time, but he wasn't as much of a bust as the others since he at least had great success for a couple years.

Ricky Ledee. Huge prospect for the Yankees in the late 90's and never did squat, except for in the 98 world series.

Raghib "The Rocket" Ismail

Stolen by the CFL

Gino Torretta

I loved this guy when I was a little kid. He looked like he was 40 and my dad. He won the Heisman in 1992, rode the bench in the NFL, re-surfaced briefly, and now is rich as hell from Wachovia and as CEO of some radio broadcasting company.
