ha ha, i already made my disclaimer. it doesnt have to be imported, expensive, rare, old, etc. i was thinking about the topic of this thread earlier, and i think i decided that it has more to do with the preparation that goes into the celebration.

like... its a lot different to go into a night of drinking wine (or liquor or even beer) with the idea that you are celebrating something - as opposed to stopping to pick up a 12 pack of bud light because you had a shitty day at work.

in other words, i think the wine is cute, but i'm thinking that the attitude and reasoning that goes into the party is what i was talking about. i kinda fear hanging out with someone who is drinking just to blow off a shitty day

sorta like acid

celebrating the end of the work day.. aka one of the biggest excuses that drug addicts and alcoholics use to justify their addictions.

When I get home after a long day (work, gym, class) I have a glass of wine or a beer... not to celebrate but just to unwind... I don't see much wrong with that...

some drug addicts and alcoholics keep their shit under control and don't have to quit like you and then try to make us feel like shit by being all self righteous

yeah, I'm not REMOTELY a wine expert, but supposedly the drought stresses the vines to the point that they provide better grapes.

I drink so infrequently, it's almost always as/for a celebration.......

I don't understand the everyday 'have a drink' mentality. It just makes me feel like crap - especially if I just have one (and no, that isn't an excuse to have 2)

talk all you want about the jackleg you only know because of the internet.

cause i'll never forget that white boy named jamie who was freestyling to a bum at a party.. that turned out to be none other than TREE TWISTA YO.

no one is "self righteous" - the few people on here who know me can attest to the fact that im nothing like your typical rehab graduate.

also, if you had it under control, you might not have to depend on the bottle to make it through your boring and repetitive life

^^i consider just having one to be a waste...i agree with you...i drink like 5 times a year tops....to me if you dont drink enough to at least get a slight buzz its a waste to drink any at all...and i dont like feeling like ass the next day...sometimes i make myself puke just to get it out of my system

its not really a waste to drink a drink or 2. actually ive seen a few cases lately where the guys who "had to call a cab" to get home from the work christmas party ended up being the black sheep. even though all they did was drink a lot, at a catered free liquor party. AND THEY DID THE RESPONSIBLE THING AND DIDNT DRIVE. apparantly there are social rules to where you can and cant get drunk even when everyone is drinking. so i guess you either need a decent tolerance or a 1-2 drink rule at some places.

GOTTA BE ALL RESPECTFUL N SHIT

and yes treetwista is a regular ole rapper wannabe douche

I don't at all think it's a waste to just have one drink - nor do I feel it's necessary to get a buzz just because you put a sip of alcohol to your lips.
However, when you don't drink often, one drink will give you a flighty buzz anyway, so it's really not an issue.

maybe for girls i usually have one because its enough to fit in socially and not have people asking me why i dont drink. it's also just enough to enjoy a drink and not have any negative consequences. most of all, its a good exercise in self control. you can never get enough practice in that area when you're me

the bbq debate has one advantage
there is SOME bbq in NC that is GOOD

NC is great... plus you're supporting the locals.

Try out some Duplin wines. Their Magnolia, Scuppernog, and Carolina/Hatteras reds are amazing. They'll blow any table wine you have out of the water (if you want something dry look elsewhere). The Hatteras is also particularly good at room temp (contrary to traditional serving).

I've never really had much Duplin wine, but I didn't particularly like what I had. So, I am less likely to try Duplin again. However, Dennis Vineyards in Albemarle is amazing. I have like 4 bottles left of their 2006 Carlos...mmmm

I have a wine question. This bottle was regrigerated when it was given to me. I took it out of the fridge at one point because I wanted it out of the way and to be able to put it somewhere for a while - because I was told that it was ok to do. Then, my Daddy put it back in the fridge. Can I take it back out and it still be ok?

^^ You really shouldn't do that, but since it's already been done once doing it again probably won't cause any further problems.
