"Lou Moshakos
Lou is another of the original Miami Subs franchisees. He started with the company in 1989. With a store in Palm Beach County. Lou saw the potential for our variety menu offerings in new areas, and in 1992 he began opening Miami Subs Grill restaurants in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina.

"I thought that the world outside of Florida needed this great concept and I had always dreamed of living and working in North Carolina," Moshakos recalls.

"When we built our first store in Raleigh the neon lights brought the people in and the great food and service brought them back."

Lou now has six Miami Subs Grill restaurants and is looking forward to introducing both Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips, and Nathan's hot dogs into each of his restaurants."

I used to eat their burger fairly often between 2001-2003. I didn't mind pulling out $3 for a real burger.

BTW, there is some stupid in this thread.

+1
Bring back Miami Sub's, or a Chic-Fil-A would be nice (since the damn one in the Atrium closes at 3 PM and doesn't have chicken salad sandwiches). Better would be something like a Chipotle, or a Rudino's. I've also always thought a Fazoli's would be nice to have (essentially, Italian at near fast-food speed).

I think what he was trying to say is that a cook-out tray is $3.99, and to get a good meal at Papa Lou's you'd spend near $8.

The daughter of the owner of Papa Lou's used to live in the dorm room beside me freshman year. She was nice. And I ate there a couple times, but I didn't want anything but the grilled chicken cesar salad - which they stopped selling.

I lived almost behind that place from 2000-2005 and only went there a couple of times when it was Miami Subs or Papa Lou's. Neither one impressed me very much.

Yeah I guessed so but I was really hoping maybe there were some coupons or a discount floating around. $2 cookout tray would be cheaper than cooking for myself.

isn't his daughter cliffy b's gf (or wife or ex)? chantal joy moshakos i believe.

i don't think it will be biscuitville. my nana is good friends with the guy who owned biscuitville (they went to school together) and they aren't looking to add new stores at the moment because they don't accept franchisees and they're pretty busy.

judging by current trends on western blvd.

the place that opens up there next (if it doesn't sit vacant for a while) is gonna be even more trashed than papa lou's

I'm not surprised.

Just hope Bada Wings doesn't do the same. Like papa lou's, Bada is great food, just pretty expensive. I think my girlfriend and I single-handedly kept that place in business the first 6 months it was open. Hopefully The Bar will help now.

What might help Bada Wings is the relative lack of cheap wing places around here. The only other place specializing is Wing Zone, and they're not exactly inexpensive either.

when papa lou's opened back in the day (on western blvd) their health grade was horrible, like an 82 or sum'n...caused a false grand opening if i remember right. additionally, i used to deliver linen to them while working for alsco, and the owner was a dick about how he wanted things done.

i was a big fan of Papa Lou's my first couple years at State. I thought the buffalo tenders and fries were amazing (before Bada Wings). The tenders began to get smaller and more battered with less meat so i dropped Lou's all together.

Sad to see it go, but there are tons of better options that can take its place.

man some bada wings sounds so good right now

the price would have been fine if any of the combos included a drink.

instead they wanted you to tack on another 2 bucks for a damn drink

dern...with neomonde, noor deli, and baba ghannouj all pretty close to campus...you would think they'd pick something a little different. Even though they say greek food it is more middle eastern except they give you french fries as sides. like others said...they are also kind of expensive

[Edited on January 9, 2008 at 2:03 AM. Reason : ^^It would definitely be hard to find waiters/waitresses that are willing to work outside @ western]

hell, i might settle for a biscuitville. But it probly wouldn't stand a chance against bojangles, even though the western bojangles doesn't seem to have grits . Or did they start serving those now?
