^^yep...hospitals still give morphine as a pain killer...codeine is used in some medicines...both of those are derived from the poppy plant just like heroin is

So what is the difference between street level heroin and codeine? And do you think it's hypocritical to want regulation of certain of the derivations of the poppy plant and want to ban others?

the poppy plants themselves are banned where only pharm companies are supposed to grow them, and they're only supposed to synthesize certain drugs like morphine and codeine

I do find it interesting that our prohibition on street drugs but liberal attitudes towards prescription drugs basically means drugs are only legal for the higher classes.

If you're poor and can't afford a doctor or aren't savvy enough to convince a doctor that you genuinely need drugs (and are not planning on selling them on the street), you're SOL.

Meanwhile, soccer moms are sharing pills and referring one another to the "friendly" doctors in town.
