yeah, but i also like having a dining room, and not seeing my office stuff from the living room, haha

i'm weird i guess

i think each room should be for 1 purpose

living/dining combo is ok as long as the room is big

no i agree. i'd much rather have a 2bedroom. but i'm just saying if price is a factor it is probably better to look on the brightside of things. i bought a condo and it is a 1bdrm, i def wish i could have gotten the 2, but the mort payments would have murdered me. but its still cool. but i'd totally love to have a guest bedroom/office. so for now i have living area avec futon for the visitors i never get!!

Know anymore about the Raleigh Apartments? Lived there or know someone who has? The location is pretty awesome. Kind of hard to find reviews online since the name of course just takes you to Raleigh apartment guides. I did find their site, though. http://www.raleigh-apts.com/

Right now I think I'm probably going to end up somewhere in that area. Raleigh Apartments, Wedgwood, Grosvenor, Cameron Court, or Shelton. I really like the location, although it will be a bitch commuting to RTP. Guess I need to go down there some morning and try it. Maybe Wade Ave won't be bad until it meets up with 40.

yes i lived there last summer! i took over someone's lease but lived there for 3 months. great location. they are older apartments though, so that is the downside. the upside is that (i think) you get a lot for your money. but if you have questions i can def try to answer them. obvi wedgewood is same mgmt company, but i've never been in one of those apts.

They did look old, which was my concern. Window A/C units? I'm not really sure what all would bother me about a place being old. The bathrooms I guess? How are they? Will probably just go and see if I can look inside some of those places over there this week.

yes window A/C units. not that bad though. definitely could have been worse. bathrooms were fine. just normal bathrooms. they are old, but not gross. def. go check one out...you'll have to look for yourself to see what you think.

Yeah, Park at Crossroads is great. I've had no issues whatsoever since I've been here.

I looked at that as well. Looks nice, but probably a bit outside of my price range. How much are you paying?

$715 for a 1 br. It'll probably be less when I sign my next lease if I decide to stay there.

Yeah, I think that one is about 985 or 1025, something like that. I had the rental lady take me around to a couple of the 2 br. layouts the other day. I'm trying to convince a friend of mine to be my roommate starting in July or August. Unfortunately most of their 2 bedroom apts. are full right now.

Fairfax, and it's more than spacious enough. I've got a big ass couch, a recliner, entertainment center, endtable, and floor speakers all in the living room.

what about the "computer desk"

how big is it? and is the closet really as big as it looks?

The walk in closet is fucking huge, just stepped it off and it's probably 12 ft. x 6 ft. Computer desk is basically a nook with a countertop and 3 shelves set above that. It's adequate size if you're just going to use it for your computer. If you want/need actual desktop space it won't be suitable for that purpose.

nah, i could make do with that

do you happen to know if they give discounts/have preference for certain employers? like, at my current place, since i work for SAS, they dropped the security deposit/application fee, and had the lease not been preexisting, i would have gotten a good discount on the rent + priority over other applicants.

Look, I don't want the place where I live to get all T-dubbed up so you fuckers just stay away from here!

I think I printed out a coupon from one of the online apt. guides and they waved all the application and deposit fees. I don't recall if they give discounts based on employers, I know several of the ones I looked at did, but I don't recall if Park at Crossroads was one of them, I want to say they did, but like I said, all my fees and shit had already been waved so it really didn't come into play.

Just an FYI, you could also look at The Lodge at Crossroads, that and Park at Crossroads are separate complexes, but their parking lots/roads connect and they're virtually identical layouts and prices. Lodge is about 1 year older than Park if I recall.

Oh, also check out The Ashborough. It's on Dillard between Tryon and Walnut, similar price range and layout as Park at Crossroads.

Alright, now let's go ahead and just steer this thing back on course toward the topic of all those apartments near Cameron Village and Hillsborough and Morgan.

When I was an undergrad I always wanted to live in that brick apt. building across from the used book store. It just looked like a cool place to live.

Yeah, I guess that's probably true. I'm actually considering moving out towards Morrisville/Preston. Maybe Preston Reserve or Legends at Preston.

Yeah, a buddy of mine lives there now. They have a tremendous clubhouse/facility. Apparently parking can be a real bitch though.

Where are you living now, Evan?

I went to Wedgwood today. Great location, pretty good price, and the apartments are MASSIVE. Looked pretty run down though with old appliances and stuff.

i fucking love my place. really, really nice. paying 695/month when comparables are between 750 and 875 (these actually just went up to 735).

Kurtis636, i checked out the Ashborough first, and they quoted me at 825 for basically what i'm living in now. Coincidentally, the little Asian girl who showed me the place at the Ashborough came into Ruckus about 2 weeks later to tell me that they were now at 725, and wondered why I hadn't "come back to see her".

Yeah, that's not terribly surprising. Rental prices should be taking a dip in this area in the next few months anyway. They're actually somewhat overbuilt and population growth is declining slightly in the region. Now isn't a bad time to be a renter.

I need a roommate so I can save a few hundred a month.
