I WILL triple post. I went to Hard Rock Park for the opening yesterday. It's awesome. Maybe the best "theme" park in the country outside of Florida and California. It is somewhat small, and there is still a lot of work to do to get the park completely finished (it is in soft opening right now), but I was impressed.

To update...
Flying Turns is still not done. It was in the coasters of 2007 thread, the coasters of 2008 thread, and if I decide to make a 2009 thread, it is beginning to look like it will be in that one as well. Roller coaster vaporware...
Ravine Flyer II is receiving rave reviews; many are saying this is one of the best rides in the world. I hope they're right, because I've decided to drive the 10 hours to Erie pretty much just to ride the damn thing.
Unfortunately, it is very true. Carowinds is receiving the old Geauga Lake boomerang next year. Absolute utter shit IMO. Among the worst types of coasters in existence. This was the first year in probably 13 or 14 years that I didn't have a season pass to Carowinds. I haven't even been to the park, and might not go; looks like there won't be any reason to go next year either. 2010, on the other hand, could hold something very special...
While Carowinds may be getting the shaft next year, and the economy may be in the shitter, it sounds like 2009 could be a massive year for amusement rides. A certain park that I know of even had to push back it's new coaster for next year to 2010 because the company that does the steel for that particular manufacturer is booked solid. Kings Island will be building a hyper coaster, but it hasn't been announced yet with any specifics. 7/21/2008 12:18:44 PM |

Griffon ftw!
Last time I was at BG was 2 weeks before the legit opening of the Griffon (for the press, etc) - but it was operating. Waited about 35-45 minutes in the early a.m, then the line turned into a 3 hour wait. I LOVE that ride...front row is the only way to go, especially with the 3-4 second of hang time at the top. James River ftw
Still a big fan of Apollo's Chariot - 14 times in a day is my record. I gotta get to some Six Flags, Cedar Point, etc. 8/7/2008 7:29:07 PM |

I don't have to go to know the BGWB blows it away8/7/2008 7:45:55 PM |

Busch Gardens does blow it away IMO, but I would classify Busch Gardens as more of a traditional amusement park. By "theme park" I was really just referring to places like Universal and Disney.
That said, saying something like that without actually going is still kind of ignorant. 8/7/2008 8:14:22 PM |

I know that, I mean closer as in 30 mins of my house. And you know they'd have to put the water section under the bridge.8/7/2008 8:51:32 PM |
