i never compared this tv to a 42" 1080p LCD... To compare any 1080i tv to a 1080p would be pretty fucking stupid- As would it be pretty dumb to assume someone was implying that because based on technology itself (it would be a lie)
I will however say that i guarantee this tv has a better picture than ANY 1080i damned Vizio...
If u read some reviews on it (and similar) you will find that the opinion shared by many owners is that the picture is better than what u will get out of an LCD tv. 2/15/2008 5:51:28 PM |

as long as your sitting down in a dark room within 20degrees of dead center of the screen...

again- u need to research the set. People automatically think that LCD/Plasma is "better" than RP but they both have pros and cons- this set has absolutely no glare and the viewing angle is surprisingly better than most RP's that I have seen but of course not comparable to the viewing angle on a plasma- Which is about the only downfall asside from black levels. 2/20/2008 1:01:21 PM |

no I don't automatically think that... b/c I do agree that Vizio's and ANYTHING with a contrast ratio of <1000:1 isn't worth having...
$600 for a mamouth relic isn't too bad, given that it's 65"... you might see $1k but doubtful considering Age, technology and size (compared to newer DLP's) 2/20/2008 1:10:01 PM |

right- I would like to get $1k out of it... It truly is not that old and as I've said before- Anyone would be hard pressed to find comparable quality/size for less than a grand- I would however like to get the damn thing sold 2/20/2008 1:16:40 PM |

$1k is pretty unrealistic considering how fast prices are dropping. Pretty soon you could get a nice 40" 1080 flat panel for $1k. Who wouldn't sacrifice a chunk of screen size when you can hang a TV on the wall instead of having it take up half your living room?
Not to mention with Toshiba out of the format wars 1080p is about to become a hell of a lot more in demand when Blu-Ray skyrockets.
Take the $600 and be done with it. 2/21/2008 12:55:45 PM |

wow- some of u guys just don't seem to fucking get it.... there are people who don't want to hang a tv on the wall and have space enough for a big set...
How are you going to compare a 40" tv to a 65"- lol ..... Thats 2+ fucking feet man...

Dont bother trying to convince them. I have people all the time come over a love my set, despite having a flat screen at their house. I would rather watch just about anything on my 65", than on someones relatively small 40-50 inch flat screen. The next set I will get will probably be a 65"+ flat panel, but a small TV (for me anything less than 50 inches) isnt worth having... well, maybe in my bathroom.
Im on my second rear projection TV. Have had HDTV for over 8 years. The flat screens are more attractive in their enclosures, but I have seen so many flat panels with pictures far worse than the high quality of picture you get from this Mitsu.

You just dont get that people dont want a monster tv anymore. You can get a brand new mitsubishi 65" DLP that's 1/4 the weight and 1/3 the size of your set for $1500.
Things aren't worth something because of how big it is, they are worth whatever people will pay for them.2/22/2008 11:13:35 AM |

I agree (better than most) that things are only worth what people will pay for them.
I'm just getting irritated with people continuously comparing 40" flat panels with this 65" RP- its just stupid to do so-
