I said the same thing in '04 and '06, and my votes and lack of votes reflected that sentiment.
However, I view McCain as at least a step in the direction I want the GOP to go.
That, and I really, really don't want socialized healthcare.2/8/2008 2:04:53 AM |

I'd say that gives him a good perspective on what socialized healthcare as run by our government will look like, and that's before you add in fat people.2/8/2008 12:20:19 PM |

Actually my Political Science text book from 2004 says the majority of college graduates consider themselves "conservatives".....might want to check your FACTS before spewing your misinformation......2/8/2008 1:04:40 PM |

i never said all inclusive.
i was referring to billy bob and sally sue redneck conservative who sit in their trailor likely collecting food stamps but bitching about a candidate not being vocal on tax cuts regardless if these are "responsible" tax cuts (tax cuts tied to reduced spending to maintain fiscal responsibility). Also, hollering about immigrants tuukking der jerbs even though they are too lazy to get their fat ass off the couch from watching NASCAR to try and get a skill that would give them a better job then they had before.
something tells me its not the fiscal conservatives who are more likely the college grads that are upset with McCain's "lack" of conservatism.

btw i doubt the viability of that statistic.

It wasn't too bad. I was born in a naval hospital and it only cost my mom and dad thirteen dollars total.

Could you be more stereotypical? Here let me fix it for you, since were stereotyping all of a sudden.

One more for the invisible "new rules" list: If you're going to call someone stupid or uneducated or the like in a post, the minimum standard is that you spell correctly. So let it be typed on a magical keyboard and uploaded to that most ethereal of all databases, so let it be done.
Amen. 2/8/2008 6:31:44 PM |

Sounds just like the conservative base. None working, living on handouts and not paying taxes. Yep, gotten pegged there. LOL

Im a college grad and dont like mccain.
bigun20, what is in your poly book has been my experience as well. More educated usually lean conservative. I think that might be due to usually higher income and higher taxes. Or maybe its just they are smarter. Sorry, couldnt resist.

too many people on this site are fucking retarted and see everything as a black v white and are partisan hacks too short sighted to see the whole picture. I generally hold a consistent views on politics. Yet i have some TSB pundits like hooksaw and biggun20 in this thread trying to paint me as some liberal hippy obama/hillary loving democrat yet in other threads i have TSB users like SandSanta painting me as this hardcore republican for not buying into the liberal agenda.
I guess i must just be a political outcast for questioning our leaders on the war in iraq, voicing opposition to the raping of our civil rights in the name of "national security", not thinking poor people are entitled welfare or whatever other free shit they want, believing in fiscal responsibility in which tax cuts are retarded if not accompanied by decreased spending, have no problem with Mexicans providing me with cheap labor.
btw from wikipedia.....
Quote : | "Academics, intellectuals and the highly educated overall constitute an important part of the Democratic voter base. Academia in particular tends to be progressive. In a 2005 survey, nearly 72% of full-time faculty members identified as liberal, while 15% identified as conservative" |
Quote : | "professionals favored Democrats by a 12 percentage point margin. While the professional class was once a stronghold of the Republican Party it has become increasingly split between the two parties, leaning in favor of the Democratic Party." |
Quote : | "In 2004, the younger Bush got 51% and the college graduate vote was split in the 2006 mid-term elections. Among voters with a Masters' degree or higher, in 1988 the elder Bush won 50% while in 2004 the younger Bush received 42%. Compensating for this drop were the gains George W. Bush made among voters with 12 to 15 years of school.[32][27] Bush had a slim advantage with college graduates at 52%, those with some college (54%) and high school graduates (52%). Democrats have majorities among those with post-graduate study (44% for Bush). In 2006 the best Republican showing was 49% among voters with a bachelor degree.[26] Republicans remain a small minority in academia, with 15% of full-time faculty identifying as conservative.[33]" |
I would say it definitely varies by region. Across the board though I believe that among the lower and working class whites tend to be more republican and minorities more democrat. Ironically from their socioeconomic position the traits of the republican class that appeal to the middle/upper/ and big business likely have no benefit to BillyBob in the trailer park. Lower class people tend to not vote so it really does not matter much anyway
