I blame the coach here too...If this kid had been recruited like he said there would have been coaches at his games, and plenty of contact with the football coach. The coach always gets buttered up just as much as the kid. A really stupid plan by the kid, and some really stupid people around him/school administrators

Portland State University’s brief flirtation with a high school football player from Nevada who lied about getting a scholarship has come to an end.

Offensive lineman Kevin Hart announced at a school assembly last month that he would play football at University of California, rather than University of Oregon, which he said also recruited him.

But the schools said they never contacted him and Hart admitted he made the whole story up.

After the incident, Portland State coaches requested video tape of Hart and it appeared the high school senior had a chance of playing college football after all.

On Friday, however, Hart’s family said Portland State coaches told them his grades would prevent the Vikings from offering him a scholarship.

There’s no word on whether PSU liked what they saw on tape or if they would have offered him a scholarship if Hart’s grades had been sufficient.
