"Giving him the business?!" Is that how its supposed to be said? I don't see that in the rule books anywhere!!!

Definitely the latter because we are frequently the laughing stock in many sports.

"Not one player on UNC had more than three fouls including Hansbrough who played 47 minutes. Have you ever seen a double over time game when a team did not have a single player in foul trouble?"

Carolina was getting their asses kicked and it is blatantly obvious they were getting help from the refs. You think the Clemson AD is going to appeal to the ACC for no fucking reason?

The explanation might have been a bit silly (again, though, he wasn't the first ref to use it) but the penalty was legitimate. I don't recall anyone other than you basing their argument against ACC refs on that call. It was a good call and a dumb explanation. That's all.

by the way believe me I understand how much of a pussy it sounds like to blame the refs, but when you are right you are right. See end of Maryland @ UNC game. UNC just didn't hit the extra 2 shots they were GIVEN. This shit has been going on for too long, see Duke/Clemson last year.

If there is enough uproar, and I already believe there is after this game, then maybe this shit (read poor officiating towards UNC/Duke) will at the very least slow down. Currently it is blatant and the officials suffer no consequences.

That's my point! Call a personal foul for God's sake! No shit he wasn't the first one to make that call but explain it accurately!!! Giving him the business is not an adequate explanation for D1 Football ref to say on a mike in front of thousands of people and on tv. This ain't pop warner!!!!

haha, it's amazing because almost every one of those calls i thought "really?"

That might be a huge difference in the number of FTs

That is why I'm looking for somebody to email for an explanation. There has to be some kind of contact info so at the very least my opinion can be heard. Does anyone have anything? I'm sure someone can get me some contact info by tomorrow. I mean even the Clemson AD has an appeal against the ACC for last nights game.

Someone needs to be held accountable for this.

you all realize many of these fans across the acc were making the same complaints when state played vtech right? many are just claiming the bias is centered around tobacco road

not to mention the villanova win was basically the result of a weak call...

i'm actually pretty impressed with the refs in this game. Only a few calls that were terrible in UNCs favor for the 1st half.

I want to know who and what was said about our game against VTech.

State rumored to getting the calls, wow, did I miss something?

I haven't seen the stat line for the State-VTech game, but I'm sure they did have a lot more fouls called on them than we did. And they should have. They're the ACC's version of Cincinatti. Their defense is to foul, foul some more, and if they still have the ball and you haven't been called for a foul yet, foul again.

^^That's what I was thinking.

^It would be easy enough to look back at the FT ratio in all of their past games and see if State is the exception or the norm. I'm too lazy to do that though.

^ but that really depends on the style of play of their opponent, not so much their hack routine. if a team is going to pound the ball inside all the time, they have a better opportunity to draw a foul then if they are just going to shoot jumpers from the perimeter.

so it might take more than just a quick look to determine that.

Okay faggot trolls where is this shit you talked about? Back it up.

Wow Memphis got the UNC/Duke treatment against Houston:

FT Made-Attempted Houston: 2-2 (1.000) Memphis: 19-32 (.594)

heres something i find funny:

i watched that video and read the comments. its obvious that unc received some bogus calls, but all the carolina fans replied with "quit whining, you lost".

didn't something happen last year or the year before where the nation, lead by a bunch of carolina voices, complained about duke getting a bunch of calls and it lead to an investigation? i guess carolina fans never really 'whine', they are allowed to work on a 'non-whiny' level to get the facts in the light....i really hate carolina.

carolina IS overrated this year, imo. when they meet the ncaa tourny refs, beaker will be out in foul trouble within 5 min.

at the beginning of the year i wouldn't have said it, but i agree. carolina is overrated. they are playing without lawson, and fans will use that as an excuse, but i don't think they aren't as good as advertised.

surprisingly (to me anyway) duke>>carolina this year.

i think a couple of acc teams are >> carolina this year. they have either been given, or the other team managed to choke out of 4 or 5 games this year. if the wind (or refs) had of blowed just right that game, carolina would have a losing record. and a couple of those close games, they had their 'all mighty' lawson.

btw, carolina fans hardly ever mentioned lawson until he went down...convenient excuse. i've always said tho, that i think lawson is more valuable to unc than hansblo. i would like to hear someone explain that to billy packer. has packer released his hold on hansblos nuts yet, or is he still clinging on for dear life?

well we definitely would have lost yeseterday, but it was blatantly obvious that the refs were not going to allow UNC to get down by more than 6 points in the first half yesterday. There was one instance that I kept rewinding on my DVR that the official was completely blocked from vision of the play and just assumed a foul was going to occur and sure enough a free 2 points from the line for Carolina. The no call on the 3 pointer Grant took really made me

As I said though, we would have lost either way, but once UNC took advantage of getting ALL the fucking calls in the first half our team completely gave up.

yeah I was too drunk to watch the Duke game so I can't comment on that. And of course once UNC had a healthy lead the officiating evened out real quick. That spurt by the refs at the end of the 1st half was really disconcerting.

and i'm pretty sure jj didn't flop that one time in the first half hansbrough ran him over for a free dunk.

plus you gotta love the play with about 3 minutes in the 1st where the ball never hit the rim, just volleyed over it a couple times and they reset the shot clock . . . then called a foul on us. Should have been our ball well before the foul occurred.

Was this the anticipatory foul on JJ when there was still a good 2 feet between him and Handsblo?

hansbrough walked so many times. its no surprise somebody who deoesn't have to dribble, is allowed to charge, and gets 2 fts anytime he is touched can score 32 points. Him and thompson with those spin moves before initiating their dribble is traveling all day. plus the literal walking. Also to start the first half danny green got a pass on the wing reestablished his pivot foot 3 times before dribbling and being touch-fouled by fells. We also had countless times where our guys were mugged inside no call. do you really htink hickson and mccauley are just missing 1 footers? it would be fine if they didn't call things so close on tyler or were consistent but any contact on him is a foul.

after a certain point our team was hesistant to draw contact on offense because it would just end badly with a no-call and scared to hold ground on defense because it would draw a ticky tack foul.

i dont think we would of lost if the refs were fair but what you guys really mean to be saying is that it wasn't solely the refs fault. its just that our team gives up when they get a few bad calls and get down by like 7. If the refs were fair we may not have gotten down thus the team would've kept fighting. either way theres no excuse for our team to give up.

Interesting fact!

Hansbrough has fouled out of only two games in his career, none this year. Only twice this season has he picked up four fouls: against Davidson in their first game and last week against Duke.

I am convinced that UNC women get more calls than the men after tonight's game....

The UNC women beasts were on our players' backs on just about every rebound.

It was very clear that it was one-sided. Ticky-tack fouls on us and they get away with murder. Typical.

I thought that too. I'm very glad the ladies played it as close as they did, considering how they looked earlier in the season. I saw larkin hook to do spin moves so many times and never get called for it.

Referee Fellated Duke Coach, Witness Reports

Durham, NC – Minutes after working a Duke 82-66 victory over St. Johns this past season, ACC Referee Ed LeGrande allegedly provided oral pleasure to Duke Head Coach Mike Kryzewezski in a janitor’s closet adjacent to the Blue Devil locker room.

"I heard moaning and thought 'Shit, Dunleavy's purging again,'" said the witness, Duke Assistant Trainer, Billy Houst. "But then I saw Coach K, and his face was all red and scrunched up more than normal, and then I saw the black and white stripes and just went ‘oh no, not again.’"

While ACC Director of Officiating Terrence Stanley expressed concern over the alleged sexual indiscretion of one of his officials, he stood by the league’s strict "Please Try Not To Blow Coach K If You Can Help It, Okay Guys?" policy, which is taught to all young referees in instructional camps (picture right).

"Aside from the countless times Coach Kryzewezski has received oral favors from referees, broadcasters, and university officials alike during the past decade of Duke’s egregiously preferential basketball dominance, any fellatio incident involving an official and Coach K is an isolated one."

Stanley then resumed masturbating to ESPN Classic footage of Christian Laettner's buzzer-beating jumper that sealed Duke’s 1992 NCAA tournament victory over Kentucky.

Upon learning of the alleged referee-to-Coach K head-giving-session, St. Johns Coach Mike Jarvis didn’t seem overly surprised. "Look at the stat sheet from that game. We went 2-4 from the line, they went 55-61. LeGrande might as well have blown him [Kryzewzski] right on the court."

i don't like complaining about bad calls, but here it is anyway:

apparently you can be jumping out of bounds w/ the ball cradled in your right arm, and use your left arm to blatantly hook a guy, and get a foul called on you.

seriously.

^ not only that.
A play or two before that, the Duke player clearly took two steps backwards so that he would be behind the 3 point line for his shot. And of course, Duke's final possession when Nelson clearly took 3 steps before they called a huge bullshit foul on us.
