Not as good as Iron Man, but so much better than the last Hulk movie. I went into this with really low expectations and it turned out to be a decent movie. I really like how marvel is starting to link up the different movie continuities. I never watched the old tv series, but I am told some of the music was a theme from that series.

they should have kept Jennifer Connelly from the last flick.

Bruce should have hooked up with that Martina chick instead of going back to Betty.

I enjoyed saying Hulk Smash whenever he did something, even if it wasn't applicable to the situation.

Like when she's crying at the college and he wipes her face with his finger,

"HULK SMASH TEARS!"

saw it, wish they used Norton's version of it. He had a lot more character development before the damn Hulk just popped up. They cut out 5-10 minutes of the beginning that he wrote.

I think I get the ending.. with the guest appearance (I THINK) but I would appreciate a PM since I do not follow comics...

The ending (with Tony Stark) is a reference to the formation of the Avengers, one of Marvel's best-known super hero teams. The original Avengers consisted of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant Man, and the Wasp. Hulk didn't stay in the Avengers very long before Captain America replaced him. The Avengers wind up fighting Hulk many times simply because he causes so much destruction wherever he goes.

Saw this last night, and I rather enjoyed it.

Two things bugged me, though. First, when that special ops team was chasing Bruce Banner through the Brazilian town, the chase started during the nighttime. They chased him out of his home, and into the streets. Then, all of a sudden - BAM - it's daytime. So they're chasing him through the streets during the daytime...ok, maybe the sun came up. Then - BAM - it's nighttime again. W.T.F. Totally ruined that whole scene for me, because that's all I could focus on.

Secondly, when the helicopter that was shooting Hulk on Cluver's campus exploded, and Hulk shielded Betty, and RIGHT THEN it starts raining when five seconds ago there wasn't a cloud in the sky? Come on.

Other than that, though, very enjoyable.

That kind of stuff happens in movies all the time.

A 5 minute chase scene where it transitions from night to noon is pretty common. Sounds like they had a mojor screwup on that scene though. Usually it just goes from night to day, but if it went back to night again maybe they were chasing him for 20 hours.

I thought I remembered them showing some clouds coming in before the army started coming after him. I also thought they had some thunder in there somewhere too, but that may have been after it started raining.

They were definitely showing clouds in the background before the fight started. So the rain didn't come out of nowhere.

I highly enjoyed the movie. I only had a problem with some of the "love" moments. I understand what they were trying to do, but sometimes it was just a little too cheesy (I'm not even talking about the kiss before he drops out of the helicopter).

I liked this a lot.

I thought the villain was kinda weak, just like with Iron Man.

I missed the Captain America reference.

Um. . .a few things:

1. The Incredible Hulk is a bit better than Hulk--but just a bit. It was not "vastly better" or anything of the sort. I chalk this up to better acting and a straightforward storyline.

2. Ed Norton is not a better Bruce Banner than Eric Bana was--I think Bana looked the part more. I just think that Norton is a better actor than Bana and that made the difference.

3. The Hulk figure is not better--uglier in the face, yes. That makes him appear more menacing:

The '08 Hulk looks like an oversized linebacker--not quite big enough for me. The '03 Hulk looked like, well, a giant hulk--they could've skipped the purple pants, though.

4. I don't think this franchise needed to be restarted--it just needed a different and clearer direction. The '08 Hulk interpretation or another one could have just as easily been done with the '03 cast.

5. Hulk opening weekend box office (June 2003): $62.1 million.

The Incredible Hulk opening weekend box office (June 2008): $54.5 million.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117987500.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

6. I do like that they used a version of "The Lonely Man," which was a song that was often heard on the TV show.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_m4dAB7o2Cc

BTW, and this is certainly a minor point, I really like Liv Tyler a lot as an actress, but she needs to lay off the lip injections. Even though she is hot, every time they showed her face I kept thinking her upper lip had been attacked by bees.

^^^Has she really had lip injections?? I always thought she just had really big lips like her dad (duh).

And I think the bad image of the first movie hurt the opening weekend numbers for the second one. I would expect the overall numbers for the 2nd one to be better, but I could be wrong on that one.

True. But the problem with the original Hulk is that they made him way too powerful. I hope I'm not giving too much away about '08 Hulk, but...

'03 Hulk: The angrier he gets, the more powerful he gets. We actually see him get bigger as he gets more pissed off onscreen--I actually loved that aspect of his character. In the end, though, the only way they manage to even daze him is to nuke him.

'08 Hulk: He stays the same size throughout the movie, he actually gets dazed by being knocked around by the villian, and can't do the "super leap"--as seen through his jumping/getting footholds on the bldgs in the last fight scene (although I did miss this aspect of his character and it was consistent with his comic book abilities).

a little weakness makes for greater longevity of the franchise, i think.

I really never wanted to bother seeing this movie... Atlas talked me into it. I loved Ironman- but I think this was kinda meh (despite how much I love Edward Norton). The Tony Stark bit is definitely what did it for me.

Looks like that word-of-mouth advertising ain't working out quite as well as the filmmakers hoped:

Weekend box office: $9,226,000

Finally took a break to see it. Thought it was loads better than the 2003 version, which I hated. I liked Norton over Bana (surprisingly). Enjoy Bana as an actor and never really liked Ed, but this changed my mind. Did not like Liv Tyler...bring back the other chick.

Story was great, loved the cameo, and the talks/references to other comic book characters.

I thought the fight scenes where great. This one is a def buy for DVD. Heard rumors that they may not continue with Hulk series, but I hope that changes. Would love to see Hulk come back for another round. I never followed the Comic to heavy, but would love to see them bring in another Villain along with the guy who is going to end up having the monster brain.

(preface this by saying i never saw the 03 movie)

but

i really wasnt crazy about this movie. i saw it because i have a man crush on ed norton. unfortunately he was the only thing that didnt make me laugh during the movie. the russian solider, army colonel and tyler were all awful. extremely cheesy and fake acting on their parts. the hulk parts were summer, cgi entertaining but i was disappointed.

i am excited for batman though. im hoping that it is what i wanted out of the hulk. a real movie, good acting, real plot while following a cartoon story line

^ I like Waterworld, too. I was just using it as (1) an example of a movie that was widely panned as a flop, but (2) was actually a financial success--a fact that I think many don't realize.

^Lou Ferrigno was the size of a linebacker back in 70s/80s as "The Hulk" so why does this Hulk in the new movie need to be a "giant" of sorts.

1. It's more in keeping with the more recent interpretations of Hulk as an immensely powerful being--not just some pumped up guy.

2. Personal preference. I don't want to see just some big dude--I want to see a giant.

08 Hulk >>>>>>>> 03 hulk

motherfucking period

jesus christ is this even a question.

the reason this movie isnt doing as well at the box office is because the 03 hulk left such a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

this is simple.
