The world ends Dec. 21st 2012? Sounds like we can even use the calendar to predict who will win the next presidential election. 3/5/2008 5:12:21 PM |

^^ I'd be surprised if anyone could respond with something stupider than that comparison. 3/6/2008 1:50:02 PM |

true, comparing one person to an entire civilization isnt very a good comparison. 3/6/2008 3:35:38 PM |

neither is comparing the survival of a civilization to the credibility of their calanders 3/6/2008 6:26:13 PM |

But I didn't compare anything, brainiac.
If you disagree then please explain why I should put faith in a vague prediction by a failed civiliation that practiced human sacrifice and worshipped a corn god. 3/6/2008 6:41:37 PM |

yet again you make a judgement on one thing using something that is completely unrelated their religious rituals and whatever reason their civilization died off has little to nothing to do with how accurate their caladers are its no different that dismissing newtonian physics because newton was a hermit obviously you think their calander is religiously motivated, its not, its the product of pure astronomical science
the fact is, it is 100% accurate from then up until know in predicting the cycles of the starts sun earth etc. what happens when it finishes is the whole argument
it obviously starts over but the details are unclear 3/6/2008 7:10:39 PM |

I don't at all. I mention outlandish religious practices solely because it reflects the absurd nature of many Mayan beliefs that new age folks tend to ignore when focusing on 2012. No one pays attention to the fact that their calendar also had an arbitrary start date that doesn't coincide with anything. If I'm going to base my opinions on an archaic calendar I'd rather base it on a one created by a civilization that didn't fail and mysteriously disappear.
There's only one way to be sure; I promise you that if the world ends on Dec. 21, 2012 my face will be really red.3/6/2008 10:25:35 PM |
