if you want real hardcore and not hardcore punk you need to look at bands like Judge, Chain Of Strength, Gorilla Biscuits, Cornerstone, etc. but that shits gay.

More glory day metalcore.

There is a book coming out on what i feel were the glory days of hardcore, and a huge part of my life.

Quote :
"For the past four years I have been assembling a book about the 1990s hardcore music scene, which I intend to title, Burning Fight: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution in Ethics, Politics, Spirit, and Sound. While Steven Blush's American Hardcore was an excellent examination of the pioneers of the hardcore punk movement, after reading his book one gets the impression that hardcore died in 1986. Although that particular era of hardcore may have ended in 1986, an influx of new bands took the genre to new places, the story of which shall be told in my book.

The nineties era of hardcore was a time of profound change and debate within musical, social, spiritual and political parameters. Many of the ethics and ideals that were ingrained in the marrow of bands from the previous decade were taken in new, exciting and often controversial directions. It seemed that those immersed in ideals and social movements pertaining to hardcore (straightedge, animal rights/vegetarianism, social/race/gender issues, D.I.Y. ethics, Krishna Consciousness) managed to come together to debate and implement these aspects into their own lives, even outside the realm of the hardcore scene. At the same time, many of the ideologies that united folks ended up dividing them in the long-run, which eventually lead to the splintering of the activist-leaning nineties hardcore scene by the decade's end. Within the confines of this book, I will draw upon the memories of a variety of people who played influential roles in the nineties hardcore era to understand what made this wave of hardcore so unique in its ability to synthesize music, politics, social issues and spirituality into what for many felt like was a powerful counter-cultural movement, where change was just around the corner.

The book will feature several sections with input from over 100 musicians, zine-makers, D.I.Y. practitioners, activists, and hooligans from this era. The chapters will focus on nineties hardcore era straightedge, animal rights/vegetarianism/veganism, politics/ethics/activism, spirituality, and revolutions in sound--the "sound" section will contain "oral history" articles on bands including Earth Crisis, 108, Unbroken, Quicksand, Los Crudos, Inside Out, Burn, Shelter, Endpoint, Lifetime, Groundwork, Swing Kids, Integrity, Vegan Reich, Avail, Threadbare, Cave In, Snapcase, Spitboy, Undertow, Deadguy, Racetraitor, Texas is the Reason, Split Lip, Ressurection, Damnation A.D., Rorschach, Coalesce and many others.

I have finished the interviewing and writing process and am currently editing. I am in talks with a few publishers and hope to reach an agreement soon. I am looking for photographs, flyers, zines covers and things of that sort from the nineties era, so feel free to get in touch if you have anything. "

How about some Megadeth and Children of Bodom? They're playing down in Atlanta and I might be road tripping to see them.

speaking of hayday metalcore...

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JALrpB42BAo

Prayer for Cleansing reunion show at tremont playing sonnet. i know they were on the tail end of what many would consider the hayday of metalcore but i still count them, especially being from NC.

LOL why is my default youtube UK..

even though i could probably play whatever i want...does anyone think CKY would somehow fit in the genres i stated earlier?

"hardcore/screamo/post-hardcore/punk hardcore/metalcore"

cause i have no idea where i would fit them in

meh, i randomly came across them, havent listened to them in ages, and only like 2 songs from them...i just wont worry about it
