I'll second The Boathouse! It's pretty awesome! You can get out of there for about $50.

i ate there (82 queen, but i also ate at the boathouse that was my parents fav) once when i lived there but i couldn't really remember anything about it. i didn't do much fine-dining when i was there haha. but i'm going back in may or june to visit some friends and i can't WAIT.

haha gilroys. i used to get medium cheese pizzas all to myself. so gross. so unnecessary. i'm glad i have done some maturing since 18 (some, not much, but i am wise enough to now know to drunkenly order only a SMALL pizza if i want to maintain my exquisite physique)

There are two boathouses. The one downtown has some of the best Sushi in town.

The one on Isle of Palms probably have the best view in the area. During the warm months you can get on the porch top bar and see the sun going down behind the Cooper River Bridge past the inlets, then turn on the other side and see the ocean. Absolutely beautiful.

The Wreck of Richard & Charlene is absolutely amazing!!! It's hard to find, not at all fancy by any means, but the food is glorious!!! (The view's not so bad either!)

^mentioned in my list. Definitely best seafood in Charleston. And probably second best view after the Boathouse on IOP. During the summer when the sun is going down past the inlet and the shrimp boats...amazing view. Then when you add the water flowing off the tin roof (no AC)..with the pre-meal boiled peanuts...I always take my visiting friends there when they want Charleston's best seafood.

I was just in Charleston over Easter...probably my favorite city ever. Hoagie Haven FTW although they're gone unless they just moved off of King St.

And I know everyone is hatin' on chains, but Sticky Fingers is dank. And I will pimp the shit out of my "RIBS...for her pleasure" shirt.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Wild Dunes resort? I have an internship there this summer- I'm excited to see that Charleston has such awesome food.

Holy shit...forgot to mention Seewee Restaurant out on 17. Bad thing is that its about 20-25 minutes outside Charleston. Best brunch ever...and probably best Southern food in Charleston.

If you're into history, Forts Sumter and Moultrie are pretty good, as are the boats at Patriot's Point. The plantations (Middleton, Magnolia, Drayton) are all nice; Middleton's my favorite I think. Those are my faves of the traditional "touristy" places, but there's definitely a lot more to do.

skip sumter. We went. Boring. Go to Fort Macon in Atlantic Beach, NC... free and don't need a ferry ride.

Do a ghost tour. that was one thing we wanted to do but didn't. but DO NOT go do one of those timeshare visits from those vultures on the streets. Get a brochure from your hotel and call for an appointment.

Although it sounds lame and touristy...you need to go on a Horse Carriage tour if you've never really been to Charleston. You get a shit ton of cool information and a decent tour of the downtown.

And if you want to do a ghost tour...try to get one of the jail. Shit is fucking crazy. I'm not into that ghost shit...but an architect friend of mine has his office at the jail...I don't know how he does it. Creeps me the fuck out.

ANOTHER VOTE FOR THE 82ND QUEEN ESPECIALLY THE GLAZED DUCK. ALSO I SECOND THE JAIL TOUR. IT'S PRETTY CRAZY. THE WIFE AND I BOUGHT A TIMESHARE AT THE CHURCH STREET INN LAST TIME DOWN SO I ASSUME WE WILL BE FREQUENTING THE CHARLESTON AREA EVEN MORE NOW.
