I hate IE8. I'll be getting the Euro version of Win7 (or whatever version I can get that has it stripped out) 6/19/2009 7:01:46 AM |

I had a lot of stability problems with IE7 that all cleared up when I switched to IE8. I really like it, it's a big step forward from IE7. 6/19/2009 7:42:12 AM |

Stein, you're not supposed to say a kind word about a Microsoft product in Tech Talk.

It's the Addam's Family rap, right?
And IE8 is horribly laggy, does all kinds of weird shit. Facebook is almost completely unusable, and for whatever reason, IE8 has some serious issues with high-res Flash video. 6/19/2009 8:10:36 AM |

It is.
Meanwhile, if I were you I'd uninstall and then reinstall. 6/19/2009 8:27:55 AM |

I've been using ie8 at work and at home w/ windows 7 and haven't had any issues with that stuff. For sure there are sites that dont render properly unless they're in compatability mode, but thats not so much of an issue with ie8 as it is with that site. 6/19/2009 9:46:16 AM |

^I'll stick with Firefox solely for the TWW user blocker, so I can continue to live an El Nacho free existance 6/19/2009 3:58:21 PM |

strange for me it the total opposite firefox don't play high res flash videos (laggy) as well as ie8 does for me or any flash games as a matter of fact. But i read something about fixing the video stuff on the next firefox release coming soon. 6/19/2009 4:35:08 PM |

I've been having loads of problems with Firefox lately (ok, more Adobe and javascript problems but you get the point). Chrome simply fails on my computer (half the time it won't even launch). IE8 can definitely be better but once I got the ad/content filtering setup like adblock+, added some accelerators, and so forth, I find it pretty decent. I still use firefox for my main but open up IE8 once or twice a day for specific tasks or secondary account access.
Interesting to see how different people encounter such different performance issues on varying machines. Plus, I think IE8 is suffering from people not knowing about some of the built-ins that do actually make it more advanced than previous versions (sort of like in the early Firefox days when new users simply didn't understand why you would need tabs and such)
