Well it all goes back to my completely unsubstantiated Firemen vs. Princesses theory.
Your (average) little boy wants to grow up to be a fireman or a policeman or a soldier. He wants to meet the world head on, take control and shape destiny so to speak.
Your (average) little girl wants to be a princess. In essence, she wants everyone to think she's beautiful and live a sheltered little life where everyone dotes on her.
Now, both sexes grow out of these desires, men usually because they realize that firemen, policemen, and soldier's don't usually get paid shit, and that chicks dig money, but they always retain that desire to shape the world. This is conducive to life in reality.
For many women, maturing is gradually letting go of that fantasy and realizing that life isn't always what you want, but for many women, they still retain part of that . . . hence the desire for a doting (and never brutally honest) husband.
Of course, some people never grow out of these fantasies.
The boys become firemen, policemen, and soldiers.
The girls become delusional. 3/9/2008 11:29:16 AM |

Damn, looks like my parents actually did me a favor when they sublimated their desire for a son onto me.
At any rate, intelligence is sine qua non, with a sick sense of humor a close second. No freaking out when I use my Doc Holliday voice in bed. 3/9/2008 11:49:00 AM |
