when i was there, i noticed that they do this in scandinavia (and i'm sure in a lot of other places, but that's my only experience)...taxes and purchases are rounded to the nearest 5 (i think)...sometimes you come out ahead, sometimes you make a bit...in theory, it evens out (getting a 1 or 2 rounds down, a 3 or 4 rounds up)

Yeah, but you have to know to ask for it at most places. I've found that it is pretty common to get around 10% off for cash purchases which can really make a difference. Cash is king because they don't have to worry about stolen credit cards, bounced checks, etc. Just say something like "can you work with me on the price if I pay cash" and most businesses will be pretty straightforward about what they will do for you. 3/17/2008 2:14:26 PM |

"you guys" don't like when your currency isn't the most dominant? cause you better get used to it
