I suppose the difference is subtle.
I absolutely hate those stupid "special interest" stories on network news.
lol, "Bart's People"

OMG this guy on the podcast just compared his diaries (where he writes down everything he did that day) to The Diary of Anne Frank and said his could be better because he went places like the zoo and California

Only replace Bart's voice with one even gayer. Which is remarkable, considering Bart is voiced by a woman.

Yeah, but who said it? ...the subject of some story? ...what story? ...was the speaker reading some fiction over the air? ...was it a joke? etc.

You know, just repeating some offensive remarks out of context might lead others to think that TAL condones, endorses or supports such views and opinions.....that's all.

Back during the last begathon, people would turn in the names of friends who had never donated. Ira Glass would call them and guilt them out in his bitchiest passive-aggressive PMS voice. To my surprise, no one laughed and hung up.

Seriously, what kind of chump donates to NPR? It's free. If they don't meet their goal, they'll just cut their inflated budget. Does it really take millions of dollars to produce Dianne Rehm? It's just an overpaid old chick with a voice for print and a microphone.

I have, but I'm no chump. You, however....

I know, right?
(I've given, but those pledge drives are the worst)

That's not very nice.... She's a great interviewer.

What's your phone number, friend?

That's really a separate issue, but is a good point.

The only good thing about Dianne Rehm is that she moves too slow to cut off the loonies when they call in. Unfortunately the NPR loonies aren't very funny. Just sad. Oh so sad.

It was the subject of a story (non-fiction) and he sounded semi-serious (he did giggle a little while saying it). Act 3 of the last weeks show, "Numbers".

I don't think so. People express extreme points of view all the time and generally TAL just presents their point of view and let the viewers judge for themselves. Anyone who listens knows they talk some crackpots every once in awhile.

Quite to the contrary, her skills at cutting people off are among the best ever for all journalists of all time. I've never heard "loonies" on any NPR show. Well, maybe once, but it wasn't Diane Rehm.

I don't think Anne Frank got out much.
