This was a point completely aside from your studies/exam. Robster was stating that it was a much more typical deployment- I was affirming that and giving one of the many reasons why ppl choose one of the two for their IGP.

That's oversimplying the issue- I don't think its simply an issue of existing extensions. Nearly every mechanism in MPLS-TE has a fundamental dependency upon the nature/behavior of a LS protocol.

If you write an extension for EIGRP that adds support for MPLS-TE- I'll be thoroughly impressed and proclaim you as my god.

I understand what you are saying.

The only portion that I need to focus on for the exam are PE-CE protocols. After the exam I can certainly change the core to OSPF or IS-IS, but that would distract me from my goal at this specific point and time.


Im taking baby steps here, thats all.

true, but if your goal is just to pass the exam, then HELLO TESTKING.

If your goal is to actually know mpls, then while you have this "goal" ahead to slightly motivate you, you should probably adjust your configs to use ospf at the core, and do some hacking to see what you can get working in your lab setup.

Most of my difficulty is actually configuring MPLS. I do well on the questions about it, operation, architecture, etc.
