woman explains the origin of "General Tso's Chicken" in this book, said he was a hero of the people during the Taiping rebellion, and that when she contacted his family they had no clue that there was an americanized dish named after him. She also said that there were more Chinese restaurants in America than McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC combined. All from the Colbert interview:
