Unexpected expenses keeping people pinned down in poverty. That and having families to take care of -- once you're in that cycle, it's hard to break out.

Besides, there's always going to be a lower-rung. There will always be people who sell their labor. It's necessary. Why do we punish them for it?

A lot of the poor are kept in a cycle of poverty due to a wide variety of factors. A lot of the time it's just being born into those circumstances with the role models available that are available. A lot of the time it's being born into failing schools.

It's a mixture of bad parenting (due to bad parenting due to bad parenting due to being really fucking poor all of the time), and a mixture of impoverished resources for these people to reach out and make a life for themselves. You expect poor kids to grow up in a home where nobody gives a crap, and then attend a school where the situation is abysmally underfunded (and additionally nobody gives a crap) and then make something of himself? You're probably smoking the same stuff these kids get dealt in school.

I agree with most of what you said. However, I also believe that anyone properly motivated and who makes good decisions can better themselves and thier situation. I dont think more programs that encourage bad decisions is the answer.

Haha yeah dude, fuck those people. They should cut their expenses EVEN FURTHER (helpful hint: they can't).

It makes sense to treat our citizens differently -- people have different needs. Taking home the same percentage makes no damn sense at all. Why would you take more of a poor person's money than they already take home? I wish one day you'd be subject to the policies you wish to inflict on others, but probably you won't.
