I've been rocking a beard for over a year now. I shaved it off a few weeks ago and everybody said I looked like a little kid. My GF begged me to grow it back. Its funny though, the different types of women that I can attract with a beard vs. with out the beard.

Also depends on how your beard looks on you. I can grow a pretty decent beard in two weeks...my roommate couldn't grow a decent beard in two years. Beard to mustache in five minutes:

I personally liked the Fu-man-chu the best. The only style I kept was the beard for about a month. Thinking about growing it back, but it's starting to get hot again and I don't know if I can deal with it.

I'm lucky in that my facial hair grows full everywhere...all the way up to my cheeks (I guess you could say its unlucky if you try to shave everyday).

I wouldn't personally "wear" any style other than the beard...but if I were to "branch out", it would definitely be with the fu-man-chu.

Incorrect. It's not expected general hygiene for all men to have clean shaven faces. It is expected for women to shave their underarms and legs.

I don't even know if you use the analogy of shaving your "area" and a man shaving his face, since I still think it's expected these days for women to keep their "area" well-groomed.

The only good comparison you might be able to make is if maybe if a guy doesn't like your hair long and wants you to cut it short (or vice versa and wants you to grow it out). Because that is a "style" and a "preference" as is having a certain "style" of facial hair. If you want your man clean shaven, then maybe he should be able to pick out your hairstyle.

So hygiene is not quite the word I was looking for.

Either way, its generally accepted in society for women to shave their legs and their underarms. Its not generally accepted for men to shave their faces daily.

And the hairstyle/facial hair isn't a perfect analogy...but its closer than the underarms and legs/facial hair comparison.

And as far as the raw face thing....what kind of making out are you people doing?? I can "get into it" when making out with a girl...but not enough to wear I'm rubbing her face raw. And I don't think beards will do as much damage as short stubble will (unless you have a really coarse beard). When I had my beard recently and I ended up going home with a girl, at some point I would throw in there (usually the next morning) the question of whether or not the beard bothered them. I got a consensus "not at all."

I will say that I hooked up with a girl about a year ago when I had some short stubble and she refused to "hook up" with me again until I shaved. Fortunately for her, I wasn't planning on hooking up with her again anyways.

i can dig some beards. it depends on the person and type of beard. country beards = no. indie rocker beards = possibly. gruffy mtn man beards = potential. huge athletic guy beards like big ben = potential. i thought steven hill (arkansas bball) looked kinda cute rocking his shaggy hair avec headband and beard.

I'll agree with that. I don't even really see a problem with the busted nut in certain situations...(although I usually don't, and most of the time the girl doesn't try). But I had an old girl that would swallow and then drink about half a cup of water and "clean out her mouth" before she tried to kiss me again. It's not like we went back into heavy making out.
