^add florida and South carolina, retract the Heels and Blue Devils.

They'd just have to be the "CarolinaDuke Conference"

SERIOUSLY. And I'm a State fan who loves K and Duke basketball

But we wouldn't have to put up with the wankery anymore, and weouldn't have to look at the scuedule at the beginning of every season and pencil in 4 losses. Yank 'em both.

I'm a Mets fan but also a HUGE Braves fan...

Yes that is as stupid as being a huge State fan and a huge Duke fan.

I'd just like to go back to the old conference for round robin basketball. The ACC IS basketball and ACC football is still as nationally irrelevant as it was before the additions.

yeah i'd love to get rid of some of the OOC games and play home-and-homes with all 11 other schools in the conference

think about it...in football at least, we got FUCKED by being in a different division than Duke...we haven't played Duke in football in the last 3 years have we? Thats 3 wins

-BC
-Miami
+ Two more conference basketball games (for round-robin)

Or...
- BC
+ Navy

All a moot point, since none of this is going to happen

I think hating in-conference teams that aren't your primary rival is a strangely-defined line.
HATE it when we play wake and duke, but pull for them without question in NCAA tourneys and OOC games... and love Duke because I wish we were Duke... and because Duke, for 10 years minus the last six games or so, has completely handled Carolina

but, Braves fan = hate Phillies and Mets
Skins fan = hate the NFC east

and even though I played, I don't want any fucking SEC teams in our conference. Like, ever.

I think that instead of adding BC to the conference, we should have taken UConn. UConn is still far away like BC, so it has that going against it. Boston isn't a sports town, and everybody up there is more interested in the pro teams than the college sports. While BC hasn't been a slouch in basketball, UConn would have been a far better team to bring in from a basketball point. Yes, I realize the reason for expansion was football, but UConn has an up and coming program, and it would have been a good compromise from a basketball perspective. And while only about 10 people would care about this, it would have brought a fantastic women's basketball program into the ACC as well.

People who are suggesting the ACC should add teams like Tennesee, Kentucky, and UConn that are so deeply tied to their conferences are incredibly delusional. We added VT, Miami, and BC because they were vagrants. Teams that have been a part of a major conference for 20+ (or 70+!) years aren't going anywhere.

Since mostly everything in this thread is bullshit.....

Delete UNC from division I entirely and make them a division III school

No one good will want to play there. We should still have them on our schedule in both football and basketball so we can take over the series lead in both sports.

"take out BC and Maryland and add SC and Georgia. everyone has an in conference, in state rival."

Like this the best.

However, I think all BCS conferences should be realigned to 14 teams...
football: play all 6 in division, 1 cross-division rival, 3 rotating cross-division, 2 OOC
basketball: play everyone twice, just 4-6 OOC/tourney games

ACC += Syracuse, UConn
BigTen += ND, Pitt, WVU
Big12 += UTEP, New Mexico
Pac10 += BYU, Utah, Boise St., Nevada
SEC += Louisville, South Alabama
Big East is eliminated and replaced by a super-conference: Conference USA...
CUSA = Big East leftovers (only like 3 are football), ECU, Memphis, Southern Miss, UAB, UCF, UNLV, SMU, Air Force, Navy, Army.
CUSA is like the play-in conference for the BCS. It will fluctuate with teams that earn/lose BCS status and covers the country.

I'd remove Miami and Georgia Tech and add South Carolina for obvious rivalry reasons and Florida.

I fail to see why so many would add USC to the ACC.

USC being South Carolina, it would make the Clemson rivalry in-conference, would give the ACC a good football school, and they used to be in the ACC anyway.

Adding Georgia would all but assure 8 schools would never win the ACC in football again.

Actually for realz.. I'd subtract BC and Miami due to distance.

Add either WVU and UGA(not likely to ever happen)
or WVU and Louisville. I've said this since the talk of expansion began

BC is no farther away than Miami. People just fail to see that because of the over hyped football program at Miami. I guess I would remove BC and VT while replacing them with no one. VT used dirty politics to get into the league. A 10 team league with Miami and an 18 game ACC basketball schedule would be awsome. Everyone would have to lose to Duke twice and not get to skip them and UNC one.

isn't that the truth. karma's a bitch

I think it's funny everyone says add USC. I'd drop Clempson. Clempson is the one ACC school that belongs in the SEC. Big football school, stadium, crazy fans. They'd jump at the chance to go SEC imo.

Maybe add UF, since the are a good academic institution, and that would balance the SEC/ACC with 12 teams each.

If I had to add/drop one more set, it would be -BC, +UGA, to bring the GT/UGA and UF/UGA in conference, and plus UGA is a school that fits the character of the ACC - small college town, law/med school, elitist attitude, basically the same as UVA and UNC. Then we would have liberal arts/tech school pairs in georgia, nc, virginia

"I'd only remove either Maryland or BC and add in South Carolina.

Would help us become a better football conference, and would add the Clemson/SC rivalry to the ACC."

South Carolina is below .500 in the history of their football program. There were times they wanted to be a basketball school because they were getting it handed to them in the ACC in Football. They can't decide what kind of school they wanna be. They suck at football, basketball, and the only thing they're good at is baseball.

I could see UGa as a part of the ACC. Can't see Clemson being bumped though. I still like removing Maryland & BC and adding UK & Louisville.
