Grandma cars are awesome. Reflective safety vests are not.
To each his own though. You can do what you want to do. In living color. 3/28/2008 1:58:53 PM |

I want a dodge charger.
Those look badass and people assume they are unmarked cop cars too. 3/28/2008 2:44:39 PM |

If you ever work on the highway running through I-85/95 traffic that's going 90mph on a shitty old bridge you're inspecting, you will change your mindset about wearing a reflective/safety vest when you're dicking around with your car on the street.
I keep a couple in my car just in case something happens on the highway at night where I wouldn't be seen without it.
This just comes from the experience of nearly being killed by speeding vehicles a few times, it changes your outlook on things...
Uh... To post on-topic in this thread, I definitely don't quite get why you'd leave all that nice stuff in your car. Usually I just leave a little trash in my car, or my car is pretty much spotless inside. I definitely never leave anything in there that I want to keep, unless it's something stupid like a box of capri sun or a couple 12 packs of soda or something. I guess you already learned the lesson about the valuables though... Hopefully insurance doesn't shit on you too bad. I was pretty sure they didn't cover stuff just in the car that was stolen, only things that were a part of the car that got broken/stolen (like your sound system or the various plastic trim pieces on the car, the window, etc).
I've always thought having a train horn on your car hooked up to a security system would be pretty damn funny. The burglar would completely shit his pants, and there's no way you wouldn't wake up.3/28/2008 2:48:05 PM |

That's what I did to mine and it got burglarized anyway... damn teenagers probably got a thrill out of thinking they were robbing a cop car. Mine has 2 big antennas and a reflector in the dash that looks like a strobe from a distance. It's probably what attracted them in the first place, looking for radios or guns.
I'll have to look into that train horn alarm idea, I just hope it doesn't get set off by a stray cat or something.
Insurance doesn't cover stuff that's not part of the car; my homeowner's insurance might but it may not be worth the resulting premium hike.

Reflective safety vests are awesome.
If you break down with people in the car, they can entertain themselves by making fun of your reflective vest.
