still no option to disable rich results "a.k.a. Awesome Bar"

i mean you close Firefox and "Clear Private Data" and rich results STILL show your browsing history... i don't understand why... i mean it shows me links for tracking packages that were over a month ago...

i'm just glad web developer has an update that's compatible with 3rc1

now if only adblock, colorzilla, forecastfox, measureit, and screen grab would get with the program, i'd be set

[Edited on May 21, 2008 at 12:31 PM. Reason : adblock plus]

ok this is pretty cool

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/05/filter-and-sort-tables-from-web-pages.html

Quote :
"TableTools is a Firefox extension that lets you sort, filter and export tables from any web page. After installing the extension and restarting Firefox, find a web page that includes tables (this search might help) and right-click on a table to find a lot of interesting features:

* sort a column, depending on the type of elements (text, numbers, dates)
* filter the rows of a table by selecting elements from a drop-down or by entering your search terms, like in the screenshot below. You can even enter regular expression to filter more complex patterns. After typing the query, press Enter or click outside the active input box.
* export the entire table as tab-delimited text, HTML code or just the filtered rows

This might be helpful if you want to insert some partial data from a table in a document, a site or in Google Spreadsheets, which only supports filtering using a limited gadget. For Google Spreadsheets, choose the option to copy the rows as tab-delimited text."

yeah, but does it (FF3) still consume 200MB of resources with 4 tabs open to static pages?

:grr:

just ran into another problem with RC1 that was not an issue with pre-RC1. I can't login to my American Express account using FF3 RC1. Thought maybe the site was down so i fired up Safari and it worked like a charm. Wonder what happened between beta and rc1

why the FUCK does firefox still not show the Next, etc buttons when i do a '/' to search. Having to push Alt-F to get the buttons is dumb. why aren't they the same?

even without the Next and Previous buttons, you can still use Ctrl+G and Shift+Ctrl+G to find the next match

looking at it further, it appears that they want to distingush between "Find" and "Quick Find"
If you do Ctrl+F you will get the "Find" bar, with the additional button. Also, the Find bar is persistent - it will remain visible until you hit the close button, or Esc.

Quick Find, though, is activated when you do "/", or you have "search for text when i start typing" enabled in the options. I guess the presumption there is that if you're comfortable using shortcuts like "/" to begin the search, the you should be comfortable using Ctrl+G as well, instead of the buttons. Additionally, the Quick Find bar is non-persistent. It will disappear automatically if you click somewhere else, or on Esc.

Just as a heads up Beta 5 (and maybe previous versions) changes how XMLHTTPRequests are handled slightly. If you use them non-asynchronusly the onreadystatuschange method no longer fires which is different from pretty much any other browser on the market.

Example:

var req = new XMLHttpRequest();
req.open("GET", 'index.php', false);
req.onreadystatechange = function() { alert('worked'); };
req.send(null);

Will never alert 'worked'. Most AJAX code (and libraries, I'd imagine) use 'true', but I figured I'd at least mention it since it doesn't seem to be a well-documented issue.

according to http://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases/Firefox_3.0 the mirrors have already been seeded so i tried http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-US and it worked. the build date says 5/29 though so i dunno if it's the final build or not

ie7 with ie pro is giving firefox a un for its money. they thing that makes me completely stay with ff is that on your live bookmarks you can just have your favicon without any words.

^i don't think ie pro is even close to firefox numbers.

FYI

Today you'll make history with Firefox

i love how they sent out an email with a link to download firefox 3... here's the link:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?p=downloadday
pointing to firefox 2.0.0.14

they've royally screwed this one up, losing an hour (not to mention the most critical hour) of downloads...
