aside from just hating their guts, what made UNC's farting around in the tournament most annoying was the ridiculous media infatuation with Hansbrough. UCLA and UNC out in the same night?? Priceless! 4/6/2008 12:27:55 AM |

In the end you choose 1 over the other because it's a better fit in nearly all ways (I'm referring to State here in case you couldn't tell). Then suppose while you're at your new job the other company has record profits and everyone gets a bonus. Wouldn't you feel just a little ticked that you missed out on the chance for said bonus (in this case the bonus being winning a national championship), even if you're happy where you are? Yeah, suppose that happened twice. You'd probably be more than a little ticked is all I'm saying.
But I don't blame you for trying to shift the focus to me. What with coming off like a jackass in your first post in this thread and all. " |

^^ Because my basing where I go to school on sports alone would be about as retarded as your posts have been in this thread. Other things entered my decision such as choice of major, student life, the make-up of the student body, etc. Not to mention I would encounter douche-bags like you on a regular basis at Carolina, whereas I only have to put up with your shit on a message board here. And for all I know, you aren't even a State student.
Plus I'm a bigger football fan than I am a basketball fan. Back in '04 when I came to State, Rivers had just graduated and State football looked to be miles ahead of Carolina football. But even if it hadn't, I would have still come to State for reasons listed above. As I alluded to in my example, sports are an added bonus, not a reason for choosing a school. 4/6/2008 3:12:06 AM |

The fact that we suck is completely independent of the fact that the most talented team in the country with one of the best players the ACC has ever had not only lost in the final four, but was absolutely destroyed in every aspect of the game.
They completely blew it, and that is awesome.

^that's pretty much exactly what I was gonna post.
Minus the anti-semitism.
UNC didn't just blow it. They got smoked on the biggest stage when they were favored to win and their fans were expecting them to roll. They were down by 28 points less than 15 minutes into the game. Kansas had it's walk-ons in at the end. UNC got embarrassed on national TV, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it happen. The fact that NC State sucks right now is irrelevant; I'll always enjoy watching UNC get spanked.

Quote : | "I said it before and I will say it again. Roy did a wonderful job hidding WEAKNESSES. First of all this team has NO power forward. I am talking about a 6-8 tp 6-9 rebounder, who is tough on the glass and plays POWER forward. We have NO shot blocker. Teams go straight to the rims against us because NO one is ever there to send the shot back. We have NO pure shooter. Ellington and Greene can stroke it, but they are not PURE shooters. We dont have enough shooters. At times we only have 1-2 scorers on the entire court. And the one I do put on Roy because he STILL has not recruited or landed one is a SMALL FORWARD. Rush, CDR, a guy 6-6 to 6-7 that can go to the rack and jam, or pull up for the 3. I love Marcus Ginyard but when he is in the game it is 4 on 5. As well, unless we learn to play big time defense nothing will matter. It can not always be about trying to outscore teams, there comes a time you have to shut people down. We had a BELOW average out of conference schedule. This was a weak ACC season, and we won 4 games to get to Texas playing at home. We faced a team that had better players, was better prepared, and played big time defense. The result is what you saw. The sad thing is that we will probably have players go pro, yet as seen last night they are not ready. Ed Davis will help, getting Bobby back will be huge for leadership and his shot. Larry Drew will help, but Roy PLEASE go get a big time leader, and a big time Small Forward." |
Haha, what an idiot. UNC is one of the top rebounding teams in the nation, and Ellington and Green were some of the best 3pt shooters in the ACC this year. I'd say Jack McClinton was the best this year. It's funny to hear the dumbasses make excuses, especially ones that aren't true. I also found this quote funny.
Quote : | "UNC did kind of overachieve this year." |

Quote : | "The usual sounds of the Carolina locker room are laughter and cheering. At this time of year, it's usually filled with the sounds of players jumping around in the middle of the room celebrating another big win, and then with their high fives and shouts of congratulations.
When it's over, though--like after running into a terrific Kansas team that on this night was simply better--the sounds are sniffles. It is very difficult to walk into a room filled with college kids and hear sniffles. They have been crying and they are still crying. It's a little uncomfortable, because we don't see them this way. We see them joking and laughing. You're not sure whether to look them in the eye, pat them on the back, or look away. Sometimes, you do all three at the same time." |

wow IC is now trying to turn this loss on the conference. I mean how dare the ACC not provide them with teams of the caliber of Kansas.
I mean I don't think the ACC deserved it's number 1 RPI ranking all year long, but UNC fans need to stop acting like this one game proves how weak the conference was. 4/6/2008 1:11:03 PM |
skokiaan All American 26447 Posts user info edit post |
its not just the conference that was weak. UNC WAS WEAK
They were the weakest #1, they had the weakest talent, and they have the weakest game coach. They just got the bigger media blowjob going in.
(Hell, if ACC refs didn't show them so much favoritism, they may not have been the #1 overall in the first place.)

You missed the point of my post, I agree it was a weak conference, but UNC's lack of desire, Ty Lawson's turning the ball over, Roy's lacking of coaching adjustments early in the game doesn't not prove the conference was weak. UNC was able to pull the game back within 4, so you have to give them some credit for not totally mailing it in the entire game. And they still were able to get to the Final Four which still should be accredited for getting that far.
Basically what I saying is that UNC fans need to look in the mirror for the reasons they lost, instead of trying to blame it on lack of competition in conference.

lack of competition in the conference was a huge reason for them not being prepared to play against another team of their caliber or higher. All the other top seeds had really good teams on their schedule to prepare for a final four type game. texas, stanford, tenneseee while unc had duke. laughable.
but it is their fault for not doing what memphis did and scheduling somebody better than davidson in the non conference.
when duke and louisville are by far the most talented teams you've played and you step out 500 miles from home and play an elite team, you're gonna be shell shocked. 4/6/2008 2:01:35 PM |
