I remember stopping at a Walmart once to pick up a couple of things. I think I got eggs, cheese, and something else (I had like 3 items). I went through the express lane and the cashier got super bitchy with me trying to say that I had more than 10 items because I had 12 eggs in the carton. She got this huge attitude and said that it was people like me that caused the express lanes to be so slow. Seriously wtf??

Dude, she works at Wal-Mart. Give her a break.

[Edited on April 7, 2008 at 2:35 PM. Reason : Or was that a joke on your part? I can't tell because I could see a Wall-Mart employee saying that]

no she really wasn't...she got seriously angry at me and yelled...the manager ended up coming over saying "I'm sorry, she's been doing this too much lately." and escorting her off the front end...pretty sure the bitch had issues but damn.

I hate that the ones at Harris Teeter don't take bills higher than $20. The Wal-Mart ones take higher denominations.

the only time that having beer or cigarettes will significantly slow you down in the self checkout lane is if the stupid worthless lazy piece of shit cashier has wandered off away from their station. the only people that you should be annoyed with in the self checkout are people with an entire cart of groceries or people who have no idea how to work the thing and take ten minutes to scan and purchase 5 items.

I wish the machines would recognize you as a frequent customer if you scan your club card. Enough of this "scan your first item" and "put the item in the bag" voice business. I know what's what. Less talkie means I can get my stuff out the door faster.

"Guess it sucks to be you guys because I'm going to keep buying my beer at the self checkout lane. Whats that, another 30 seconds to flash my ID to the cashier over seeing the self checkout lanes? Or no time at all if they don't want to see my ID? I swear you kiddies will find the littlest things to cry all day long about."

Used self checkout twice last weekend. Both times sucked.
1. Home Depot. First, I ring up a single drill bit and the machine doesn't register when I put it in the bagging area so I have to wait for the cashier guy to come back and reset it. He is helping some other poor sap who used the self checkout so I have to wait a while.

I lost my ATM card, so I'm having to pay cash. I start plugging in 5 dollar bills. The last one happens to be one of the new ones that came out about a month ago. Sure enough, that stupid ass machine doesn't recognize it. WTF HOME DEPOT? They have been out for like a month. I can't be the first person to try it in your machine.

2. I go to Harris Teeter. Ring up all my shit. Find out the machine won't take $50 bills. I don't have anything smaller because I'm too baller to carry small bills (it's a joke people...I know I had $5's at home depot.) Didn't bring my wallet because I had lost my ATM card and I wasn't planning to put groceries on the credit card. Clusterfuck ensues.

I hate how the ones at Food Lion (at least the one by my work that's the only one I've ever used there) is retardedly loud. "YOUR TOTAL IS NINE DOLLARS AND EIGHTEEN CENTS!"

So this one time at Wal-Mart I went through the self check out thingy (late at night), but my debit card was declined. Well I think Wal-Mart has THE LOUDEST talkie person on their machine. She was like "WE'RE SORRY!!! YOUR CARD HAS BEEN DECLINED" Yea it was completely embarrassing even though the store was empty. I think that made it echo even more. Never try to buy a bunch of shit when you think your paycheck has gone through haha.

I use the self checkout to buy beer all the time. It's not like it takes any more than 5 seconds to flash your ID and get out the door. But yes, I agree, the people with a cart full of food using the self checkout should be shot

God, it doesn't take that long to show an ID.

I mean, if you have like 15 items, and a pack of beer is included in those, then the self checkout should be perfect for that.
