It's parents like those that teach their children to see anything bad that happens to them as racism.

At work I provide after school care for kids in grades 4th-6th. One boy in 4th grade who is black has called me racist numerous times because I dicipline him for his actions. One point of time I had to punish both him and another boy who was white, and he still called me racist and said he would call the NCAAP on me.

Another boy who just started to come is in the 6th grade and is 12 years old. He is hispanic and will often times say that I won't let him do things just because he is hispanic.

Parents who are over sensitive allow this to trickle down to their children. Actions like these are one of the things that I think helps racism alive. People who are overly politically correct keep it alive.

If something is blatanly racist then yes, address that, but if it something that is nothing more than correcting the bad behavior of children, then grow up, someone was looking out for not only the well being of the children, but for the well being of the enviornment the children are in. Teaching these children that anytime someone corrects them it's racist is going to do nothing but hurt them in the long run. I bet those kids didn't even think twice about her using the word monkeys, it was when the parents got upset that the kids felt that it was okay to be upset too.

I knew he wasn't going to call the NCAAP on me, but when they are 10 years old and are already talking about how their moms say when someone is mean to them it's racist. I've seen this happen in high school recently too. Remember, 10 year olds grow up too, and things that have been impressed into their minds stay with them for the rest of their lives.

I was doing nothing more than stating the fact that there is a problem with people being too politically correct. I also stated that too often I see children of other races being taught that if they get in trouble by someone who is white then its racism.

I tell two boys who are fighting over a basketball to stop fighting or I'm going to take the basketball from them and I get called racist because of this. I ask the boy why he thought I was being racist, and he said that his mom told him any time a white person is mean to him it's racist.

Then yes, I do see a problem with that. If he is going to have someone raising him that teaches him that anytime a person who is white who is in charge of him, and there to keep him safe tells him not to do something or punishes him in a way that he sees as unfair it's racism then I am a little concerned with that.

The only thing I was doing was stopping the two boys from getting into a fist fight. If he had gone home to his mother and said that I was being racist I then how could I disprove that? It's my word against his, and just like child sexual abuse charges, an accusation of that kind is something that can't be disproven very easily.


^^I understand what you are saying, and there are several parents that will call the kid out on it. The problem here is that this kids parents are teaching him to do this and if he was to go home and even stretch the truth a little bit (because we all know 10 year olds do that) then I would have her coming to me and blaming me for something that I could never imagine doing and I wouldn't be able to fight it, because it's my word against his.
