It hasn't completely leaked unless you have 15 tracks.

If what you're calling a "leak" are the 9 tracks that came out this past weekend, then it's not the real deal.

^ that's what I figured.

Of those 9, 6 of those have been around for a while, but the version of "Madagascar" on that 9 track copy is different.

The full leak is supposed to have a tracklisting as this:

Better
Catcher in the Rye
Chinese Democracy
I.R.S.
If The World
Madagascar
Prostitute
Sorry
The Blues
There Was ATime
Rhiad and the Bedouins
Oh My God
Silk Worms
Ides of March
Leave Me Alone

Maybe Axl's gone off the deep end and decided to only release 9 of those, but I highly doubt it. This thing has "leaked" about once a year for the last 3 years in some form or another... everytime the links get pulled and it falls back into obscurity for another year and then re-emerges with a few of the same tracks re-worked.

This is the first time that this many have came out, so perhaps we're on the verge of the full leak and release.

7. The Blues

^ no, you're right--9 of 'em are definitely out there. I was only questioning whether those are the final mixed 9 and whether the true full leak would contain the 15 that were supposedly on the track listing.

For all we know, he may have cut it back to 9 for the record. Billboard had an article about it this morning:

partial leak, sweet

i hope your leak isn't a virus sober

so far, it doesn't have a GnR feel to it. Its like they tried to update the sound to be new and hipper...but I don't think I can quite describe it right.

there's really no way it could ever live up to expectations

i think somewhere i heard chris cornell tell slash "i think i know the perfect guy for velvet revolver"

slash assumes he's talking about himself (cornell) replacing weiland and asks "who's that?"

to which cornell replied "axl rose"

Nobody had any sort of expectation that this album would be good, did they?

I mean, GNR is one of my favorite bands...maybe my absolute favorite. I will be shocked if this album isn't mediocre at best, though.

Guns N' Roses in talks for exclusive album release

By Ed Christman

NEW YORK (Billboard) - The June leak of nine allegedly "mastered, finished" tracks from Guns N' Roses' long-delayed "Chinese Democracy" spurred a renewed round of speculation about whether the Axl Rose-led band will finally release the 14-years-in-the-making album.

But some concrete signs are finally emerging that the album's release could be imminent. That's because, according to sources, negotiations are under way for "Chinese Democracy" to come out as an exclusive at one of the big-box retailers -- either Wal-Mart or Best Buy.

Negotiations are also ongoing for conventional record company distribution, another source said.

Guns N' Roses is now managed by Irving Azoff's Front Line Management, and Azoff is a well-known proponent of issuing albums exclusively through retailers. He released the Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" through Wal-Mart, much to the chagrin of other merchants.

It's unclear who initiated the Guns N' Roses exclusive negotiations -- Front Line or Interscope, the band's label.

Representatives at Front Line and Interscope with knowledge of the situation couldn't be reached for comment. A Wal-Mart representative said the chain couldn't confirm this fall's exclusive album offerings. Best Buy representatives couldn't be reached for comment.

But I do love DrPepper, so I'm happy.

I heard the song on the radio today, I could tell if it sounded like Axel Rose featuring Nickleback or Axel Rose featuring Linkin Park.

Probably some hybrid of the two.

If it'd come out when it was originally supposed to it probably would have been ahead of the curve.

I had some trouble last night with it, where the song would stop a few minutes in. I just paused it and let it buffer for a bit and then played the songs, no problem.

A couple of the songs seem so discombobulated that I can't tell what's going on and its just really technical noise. I'll listen again though.

I am a huge GNR fan. Easily my favorite band, so I am trying to be subjective listening to it on myspace.

that said, I like what I have heard so far. certainly not the best they have ever done but not bad at all.

yeah, I've listened to a few songs already, and i think it sounds great. They (He - Axl Rose) was in a really tough spot here, and there's almost no way expectations could have been kept after 17 years of anticipation, but it sounds really, really solid so far.

Personally its a big meh for me. I feel that if this record wasn't put out with the GnR fanfare behind it it would be nothing. Its ok, but most likely if I heard it in passing and had never heard of them I wouldn't be saying "hey who is this? I need to hear more"

What I have heard so far is certainly not all terrible, but its not GnR, and I doubt it will be something I listen to after the first few initial listens.

yeah, but the same could be said about a lot of modern bands. The Beastie Boys, for example, would have been laughed off the stage for almost everything they've done in the past 15 years had it not been for their work in the 80s and early 90s.

well, yeah.... because it isn't GnR, really. It's Axl Rose and a bunch of other random people.

^^ I know that, I was just reiterating that I hate when people ride a band name's wave through multiple turnovers of band members, especially when critical members leave. If it was slash and axl left it might be different

how do you mean?
If Axl left, then there would be no way they could release as GnR. Slash may have been the soul of GnR, but Axl was and is, literally, the voice. Without his voice, there is no GnR. I think he was always the song writer too, so again, it's kind of critical.
