yeeeeeeeeeeeah.....so throughout college my mom kept a running tab of money they had to spend on me for various screw-ups (ie. $7k to buy a new (used) car because i was incapabale of getting regular oil changes, $1k for paying off a credit card that i forgot about). that sort of stuff. anyway, i think the final total was probably around $10k and i was supposed to start paying it off as soon as a graduated.

but then as soon as i graduated, my dad moved me down to my new apartment in atlanta, paid my first and last months rent, and it was never spoken of again. i kept thinking that my mom would bring it up, and was just waiting for me to get settled in before she started asking for payments, and i even went as far as deleting the file on my mom's computer when i went up for my first christmas after graduation, but it was never spoken of again. (it probably helps that i'm doing pretty well and havent asked for a dime since moving down to atlanta).


all that being said, fuck her parents (even more so because they are not charging her brother since he was an english major). this is almost as bad as dead-beat dads all of a sudden showing up when their kid makes the nba. i think she should not mention it, and if they ever do again, then tell that if she pays them back now, then she will be unable to save up for her retirement as well as take care of them in the future

I think they were absolutely right to hold you accountable for those costs. How in the hell do you destroy a car by not getting the oil changed?!?! Or FORGET about a $1000 balance on a credit card??!
