I had to look up what madras was on wikipedia and found this:
Quote :
"The fabric is mentioned many times in the S.E. Hinton book The Outsiders as a favored clothing worn by the Socs."

Maybe people don't like it because those guys were douchebags.

please to not confuse madras with plaid, they are in fact different.

Plaid can be cool,

madras, not so much. Abercrombie and American Eagle would have you think otherwise though.

^^^^^ true, I guess I mean it in the sense that most retail places (and people who don't know the true definition) define madras..as in the patchwork shit of different plaid patterns.

<3 livin and diva. the only people that realize madras was not, in fact, invented by abercrombie and fitch last summer. and that madras is a type of plaid. geeeeez people. i guess i'm the only one who has parents that haven't purchased new clothes since like 1965.

hey now . . . I'm branching out, and it is safe to say that those things will never come into fashion, so I should be safe.

Oh, and madras kicks ass but it took me a while to warm up to it. That being said, I saw a bunch of people wearing madras this weekend . . . yeah, I'm already getting that urge to put my shorts away Although, there was this one old guy rocking full madras pants with a polo and some crazy joakleys.

i repeat! madras is not a new fad!!! if you put something away when it becomes trendy then you should have put your madras shorts away in like 1942.

anyway, i wasn't sure if i liked madras either but i think i like madras bermuda shorts (another "new" fad). but i don't think can wear bermuda shorts

yeah, they came back in the 70s too. Madras is definitely comfortable, especially when it is truly thin madras.

I saw a nice pair of slacks at Brooks Brothers the other week. I might get them when they go on sale this fall.

In my experience, Madras are only worn (or drunk) by people who are gay.

I'm still shocked that you even started wearing it in the first place.

But you have to admit, you're fucking excited about the new bow tie

I do own a pair of sperrys though. I like the way they look/feel, I'll probably keep wearing them even when they are out of style.

I like these shorts. I don't wear them all that often and I'm not really hugely into fashion, but I think they're pretty nifty.

Seriously, this could apply to rural black men who wear lime green suits to church on Sunday, or Mexicans who hang those frilly things in front of their sun visors, or or anything popular in Japan
