i mean that makes sense, but for the most part(when I was doing arenas hard) not even halfway into the season people had very comparable gear all around. i mean heck, the first season I had nothing but blues and greens and a 5 man blue weapon starting when other people had the crafted weapons and had some kara gear (granted we werent that far behind since kara and i guess gruul where the highest instances people were raiding i think) and we moved up into the top 20 in 2 weeks.

by at least 3/4 of the way through any season, if you dont have a full set of arena armor then you were getting horrible enough of a rating that you wouldnt be competitive anyways. and if you think you are better than your rating and armor is the only thing holding you back, you should be jumping up those rankings once you have the armor.

i dont understand why there hasnt been another skill based game, as opposed to level based, like UO. it allowed for creativity in builds and made for a much more varied experience when fighting players or mobs.

I'm playing it now with a 42 Priest of Mitra and 22 Necro. I can honestly say that the Necro is the worst class I've played so far and the PoM is supposedly OP. I would recommend that a new player either pick guardian or PoM to get into good group later on. DPS is DPS.

i have a 32 guardian and 30 PoM now

the priest is definitely easy mode for healing (omgwtf lance of mitra)

guardian takes some time and is definitely slower leveling just due to necessity of having heals for fighting anything more than 1-2 at a time.

bear shaman is another good class to play, albeit a little harder to learn.

^i installed it last night, runs good enough on low settings... pretty consisten 30 fps. i'd love for it to run better, but my comp is over 2 years old now.

so i ran my first character up to 11 last night (herald of xotli) on PVE server Ajujo (i think). liked it alright, would have liked to get more than 1 spell, but i'm sure they come later.

i think i'm going to roll on a pvp server with a coworker. what is everyone's opinion of the PVP in AoC? and what servers are people on, in case we need a TWW guild...

i haven't yet really found the purpose of the pvp, except to piss off lower level characters. the fact that you can whisper whoever just ganked you adds some fun.

i whispered someone that ganked me. he was 5 levels higher than me, ranged shot me in the back while fighting 2 mobs (1 being a boss). i whispered him "cowardly" and he actually kind of appoligized.

This game looks pretty sweet, I have to admit.

2 questions:

1. I got bored senseless after a few months with WoW, how does this compare? Is the combat actually fun, or just fun compared to WoW?

2. None of my friends are going to be playing this (when I got into WoW I had a dozen or so RL friends who played too, so we formed a guild) and I may not going to be online enough to suit some of the more competitive guilds, how friendly is this game for a lone casual gamer? (casual as in hours spent on this game, not casual style, I don't mind PVP)

The combat is a lot more intense, requires more user input.
there is also a certain satisfaction to be had when you chop a guy's head clean off

I'm level 30 and I've soloed all the way there.
It definitely gets a little more difficult after lvl 20 to solo
but its far from impossible

i've got a 42 PoM on Bluesteel (PVP). enjoying it so far. the ganking isn't too bad, especially since you cant really camp a corpse. i also like that i'm not strictly limited to fighting mobs of a certain level. as a 42, i can attack and kill multiple level 46s, or take on a 49 boss.

oh but elites suck so hard. i just now managed to down a level 28 elite.... those guys are tough.
