I was at Zaxby's the other night and a bunch of kids at wrestling camp were getting dinner. This shit song came on and some kid who looked about 14 yells out "This is a great song!"

So naturally I quickly finished my food, hid in a bush outside and then curb stomped the kid when he came out.

And Kid Rock's a Republican, so now some of you can really hate him.

Quote :
"The Democrats don't have a monopoly on musicians: The GOP can count on Johnny Ramone, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent (a declared independent but Bush backer), Michael W. Smith and a host of country artists, some who will perform this week at the Republican National Convention in New York City."

hate it

though i must say i HATE the original warren zevon song... and the original lynyrd skynyrd song.

so this is just two songs that i hate combined by a guy that capitalizes on people in their mid-20's who are nostalgic for an era they never really grew up in in the first place.

its utterly forgettable tripe that will be played in bars during sets of karaoke for drunken fat bitches to sing along with while they spill their beer on their fleshy spare tires that spill over the top of their 2-sizes-to-small jeans. the skinny persian looking guy with the greasy hair and the green silk shirt sipping the michelob ultra is digging it though... as is the mustached construction worker who, oddly enough, has his eye on the black chick despite talking about how the nigras are ruinin this countrah.

welcome to the bar scene ladies and gents. enjoy your trip.

"Anyone who thinks this song is good needs to look at the facts.

1. He rhymed things with things.
2. He literally stole the entire beat and sound from "Werewolves of London" except for the small part he stole from Sweet Home Alabama.
3. He rhymed things with things.

If he had made this song up by himself without stealing it from somewhere else then I wouldn't hate it nearly as much, but he LITERALLY STOLE THE ENTIRE MUSICAL SOUND FROM OTHER SONGS. Not just part of it. ALL of it. That is fucking lame."

Dude, I'm just going to throw this one out there and see where it goes, but Hip-Hop does this all the time. I'm serious. They just call it "sampling." For instance, Steely Dan has to be the single most ripped-off, er, "sampled" artist featured in Hip Hop. I once heard the theme from "Peg" being ripped off in what I think was a Jay-Z song (although it could have been somebody else). And Peg isn't even a good song.

Seriously, nobody gets all bent out of shape when they do it. They rhyme crap with itself all the time, too.

Which does not mean this song wasn't awful, although the sheer banality of it is what does it in. (Seriously, John Cougar Melloncamp has done it a thousand times before, and every single one of those was better than this. And many of them aren't even that good.)

Ugh. Just. Stop.

(Edit: Okay, looks like FuhCtious got to my point first on page 1. Sort of.)

exactly.

its not that he ripped off two songs

its that he ripped off two songs that suck.

Hip-hop is an entirely different genre and I'm not arguing that point. Kid Rock is a faux rock star that has no talent and yet somehow gets away with it because he panders to dumbfucks that don't know any better. Props to him for making millions of dollars while doing it, but if I ever saw him in the streets I'd give him hell for being a no talent hack.

He would then proceed home where he would do lots of cocaine and have sex with beautiful women. It would make me feel better though.

It's far, far, far less acceptable to rip songs off like that in rock than it is for hip-hop and I bet the rappers would even be willing to admit they jacked a lot of material.

I'm just sayin', he'd hardly be the first. Every genre has hacks. And masses who eat that shit up inexplicably.

Also, I mean, what gives with that? Case in point: Can't Touch This. When I was like 12, I didn't even know how much of a ripoff of "Superfreak" that was. This came much later. Yet it's fine in rap, but totally gauche in pop/rock. What gives?

pretty sure you wouldn't say shit if you saw him IRL

you'd be like "holy shit i think thats... yep, that's kid rock. wow."

but trying to act like you'd be all "HEY MISTER YOU'RE TRASH" is a little delusional. i hate the little thuglets down the street but i don't pretend to call them out everytime i see them... and they're way higher on my "annoyances" list than Kid Rock.

Meh, i've heard many rappers sample parts of songs... This Kid Rock thing just takes the entire song and puts new lyrics to it. Hell, most rappers at least slightly change the beats (that makes then able to sample without buying the rights).

this song will become a big hit, and probably go platinum based on just two demographics:

(1) middle school girls

(2) contemporary country fans who buy their music at walmart.
