You can get a 1BR for ~ $900 a month, which isn't THAT bad...
It's probably a bit out of my price range for now unfortunately though 6/23/2008 12:46:11 PM |

repost for page 2:
is dominion walnut creek really that bad? the room i looked at was way in the back, and it seemed really nice. new kitchen and w/d, fireplace, all that jazz. but i've read lots of horrible reviews on the place as a whole. i THINK they got new management, but i'm not really sure. anyone have any more info? 6/23/2008 2:25:30 PM |

My wife and I just moved out of DWC on Saturday. We lived in a 1 bedroom for 2 years and it was pretty crappy, but that was probably due mostly to it not being renovated. It was, however, on the cheaper end of the spectrum. My biggest problems with the actual apartment was the construction. At night you could see lights coming in through the top of the door and the windows were really drafty. We lived on the second floor and there were spots in the floor that were "creaky" and you could actually feel boards sticking up through the carpet in places. Again, this probably had more to do with it not being renovated.
As for the management, they are kind of hit and miss. Sometimes a problem would get taken care of right away, other times you could get the runaround. The worst thing I've seen get screwed up was when my neighbor's washer screwed up and flooded her kitchen/living room after normal business hours. I personally helped her remove buckets of water out of the washer and mop up the mess because the person on the emergency maintenance line said he'd deal with it tomorrow. They ended up having to replace her kitchen floor, carpet, and the ceiling of the person living under her. 6/23/2008 3:09:54 PM |

i'm not expecting anything to be the ritz-carlton. the place at DWC i looked at had a newly renovated kitchen with all new appliances, and came with a w/d, and looked pretty nice. DWC appealed to me because they allow pets. i have a 75 pound dog, 2 rats, 1 fish, and possibly 2 kittens. so, yeah, pet-friendly is a plus.
does anyone have any recommendations for pet-friendly apartments or condos in raleigh? i don't even need to be super close to campus; price and size of the place is more important. i've been checking craigslist every day for 3 weeks or something, and i've driven around and looked. it's hard to find a place that fits my budget and allows animals and isn't completely crappy! 6/23/2008 3:44:11 PM |

All the places I was looking at downtown allowed pets; most of them had fees, though.
Cameron Court Boylan Apartments (no fees here) Raleigh Apts 6/23/2008 3:48:27 PM |

yeah, a lot of apartments allow pets... but often there are limits (weight limits, number limits..). cameron court told me that my dog was too big, that he wouldn't be allowed. i've heard that the raleigh apartments are all taken for this year, and aren't the boylan apartments pretty expensive? 6/24/2008 12:24:48 AM |

How do you guys like Cameron Court apartments so far?
I'm on a wait list for a 1 bedroom apartment there, and I plan on looking at Landmark Apartments, Grosvenor Gardens (I'm wait listed here too), and I can't get up with anyone at Raleigh Apartments. I don't have to move until April, but I'm sure these are all hard places to get into.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a 1 bedroom around ncsu/downtown for less than $650? I work right near the Hillsborough st and Oberlin, so if I could bike from home that would be wonderful. ] 12/22/2008 10:31:55 AM |

I have, but most of those apartments are out of my price range
^^I've thought about that, but I want my own (mostly bug free) place
I live in Dominion Walnut Ridge/Woodland Court right now with a roommate, and I haven't had any issues with them. If they had cheaper 1 bedroom apartments I'd stay put. ] 12/22/2008 11:51:08 AM |

ive learned to take consumer reviews with a grain of salt, because 1) stuff happens everywhere nowhere is crime free and 2) people who are taking the time to seek out apt review sites to post in them are most likely disgruntled full of sour grapes
always check it out for yourself

i lived in dwc for almost 2 years, and didn't have any real problems. they had some issues with the plumbing that was a PITA (i think it's all been replaced now), but other than that i can't really say anything bad--other than it runs a little expensive for what it is 12/22/2008 12:29:01 PM |
