lil wayne is tolerable at best to me, but def not something i would spend ANY money on. i never felt him because he isn't real at all, just some pranksta stage gangsta. however, he is doing his thang, but he is nothing like a young nas, or the like.

i define a classic as something that can be listened to at anytime ah it sounds fresh off the press no matter how old it is. lil wayne could never make any classics in my opinion.

^^ basically he just some little bitch boy that gets on stage and raps like he has sold all kinds of kilos of cocaine, and has carried mad guns and all that jazz - i am pretty sure he hasn't sold shit, and was too fucking poor to own a gun, and only gets bitches NOW (and not ever never then i would ewager) because he has money, lol.

actually that was one of the main refreshing things about TCIII, the lack of coke talk that permeated the original carter and his previous albums (although the hot boys/cash money were never really a group to rap about pushing product like clipse, they were all about the flash and the money and the bitches)

if anything wayne is a rock star rapper, and i can appreciate his creativity with how he put together his sound, but not his lyrical content.

i totally agree with your very last sentence there. as i said, and i will say it again, he is 'tolerable' at best, but i would not spend ANY money on his shit, not one penny.

ok so do you think he writes all his stuff beforehand or even rehearses it a little, or does he just go into the studio and go off the dome?

don't even get me started on his 'freestyle' flow - i don't think i could bare to hear anymore than i have already hear of it.

some of you are fucking retarded

the dude can rap

if you don't think so, check out "da drought 3"

you claimed that all he does is rap about selling a lot of coke, but i don't even think he mentions coke on TCIII (at least not much). if you're gonna call someone out for that, look at Young Jeezy/Clipse. at least Wayne's rhymes are entertaining

very true. The Clipse and The R-E-U-P-G-A-N-G are the best at the coke talk. these guys pioneered it.

^^I'm not hatin on wayne, I'm just saying there's a difference btw a rapper that's fun to listen to, and one that's great to listen to.

He's a very charismatic rapper and comes with a lot of energy on a track. but with rare exception, he's not talking about ANYTHING. And his albums are put together like mixtapes. he's the anti-nas (not that I'm nas' biggest fan either).

But like I've said before, Wayne is a really good rapper, and one of my favorites to listen to, but I'll never put him in the same class with Big, Pac, Jay, and even Eminem when it comes to being the greatest.

^not even close to being in the echelon of great rappers. he is a great crowd pleaser, but he is in no way contributed anything to the rap game.

^^^i am more interested in 'checking it out', it could be a rather dishy tune however. i just finished listening to cIII, and i say 7/10. i particularly like 5 tracks, but i shall not play them too much because they might get old fast. instead i will wait until i get drunk again and play the shit out of them lol

^^ i like 50 way better, hes just my kind of rapper

i'm curious what dammit would give carter 3 out of 10....i've listened completely through 3 times and its just lackluster as fuck

[Edited on June 12, 2008 at 10:36 PM. Reason : one sec i'll post the songs i kinda like in a sec]

mr carter
a milli
let the beat build- not my typical rap song i'd like but i like it
shoot me down- also not a typical rap song but i like it
you aint got nothing on me- didnt even like it that much
that lollipop song sucks, i heard that was the single

i thought the busta song was such a missed opportunity
dr carter has interesting beat but as a person that wants to hear a rap song i just find that like 2/10

so overall this cd has like at most 7 listenable songs on it and the rest is meh for me

yeah, it is lackluster so to speak - just seems like recycled content trying to be passed off as fresh content. still tolerable at best, with a few exceptions that sound pretty good, but i am sure they will get old after like 5-10 plays.

I give it a 6.5/7

Good:
Mr. Carter
Comfortable (even though it's old as fuck)
Dr. Carter (even though Jay-z turned it down and would have been better)
Tie My Hands (song of the album)
Shoot Me Down
Mrs. Officer (it's stupid, but I like it)
Misunderstood

Enjoyable, but nothing remarkable:
3 Peat
A Milli
Get Money
Playin with fire

Eh:
Lollipop
Let The Beat build

Skip everytime:
Phone Home
La La
Nothin On Me

so basically you mean his last verse

because at the end of the song he transitions into what i can only surmise is an homage to Jay blessing his track, but spitting his bars from Lucky Me

i dont know why you'd refer to it as a "verse/freestyle/whatever", it's clearly part of the last verse of the song

I know it's a verse, but it's delivered so poorly, I'm trying to convince myself there was no planning behind it.

To say that Lil Wayne has contributed nothing to the rap game is ignorant as fuck. you may not like what he has contributed, but the buzz on this album alone has dominated hip hop magazines, convos, message boards and everything. You should also at least consider his contribution as a member of the hot boys. He did help usher in the use of the word "bling.".........This doesn't mean he is on the Nas, Eminem, Big, Jay Z level, just can't pass him off that easily.

I hate the version of amilli that made the album. He redid the lyrics and took out all the emotion and toko out some good ones and replaced them with bad ones.

The Songs I like a lot

Mr. Carter
Phone Home
Tie my hands
Nothing on me
Shoot me down
comfortable

worst song ever made

La La

All the other songs fall somewhere in between. I feel like no matter what, this album wouldn't liev up to anybody's expectation but I do think there are a few slip-ups. Which is sad because if you repalced a few of these songs with some of the leaked tracks from the last year you'd have one of the best cds ever (gossip, something you forgot, lalala, i feel like dying, love me or hate me etc...)
