this guy is a serious fucking plagiarist. how sad of a person do you have to be to go on youtube and copy the AVGN to get people to look at your ugly face?

^i remember hearing about the irate gamer a few years back. looks like he's kind of changed his format and mostly reviews newer stuff, and is not all that irate anymore.

the nostalgia critic kind of copies the AVGN format too, but at least he isn't doing video game reviews. he mostly just bothers me for other reasons.

I remember playing Gyromite as a kid. I actually liked the game (I am fan of puzzlish games like Lemmings and such), however I had no idea there was a robot that could play with you.

Is there any competition to the Nerd these days for this style of frustrated nostalgic video game commentary? I've seen the Nostalgia Critic and personally think his whiny ass voice sucks. Has anyone seen anything they thought was better than the Nerd or at least comparable?

Gyromite was fun, but Game B was always my favorite

that was the game mode when all you controlled was the red and blue towers, but the gray haired dude just sleepwalked or something...so you had to allow him to beat the levels, while not squashing him or getting him eaten by the little monsters

and fuck the robot, it took way too fucking long for him to do anything worthwhile

With board games and movies, you don’t have to record hours of game footage. I enjoy the spontaneous energy that comes out when Mike and I shoot other kinds of videos. Sometime this summer, I hope to do more of that. AVGN FEATURE FILM – After 100 episodes, it’s time for AVGN to move forward! We have a story that NEEDS to make it to the big screen. My friend Kevin and I wrote the script years ago, and it’s been sitting on the shelf since. It’s time to put some kind of focus on it, and get it moving. The hardest part about making a movie is getting it started. In order to do that, I’ll have to take a break from the regular AVGN episodes. Episode 101 will come, and it will be a big one. But after that, I need some time off. I feel very privileged to have lots of your support, and I will ask help for various roles when the time comes. Making a feature length film is a personal goal of mine, and I thank you all for helping make that possible."

I mean, he has been doing this since 2004 and I'm sure he gets sick of it at times. A lot of the newer episodes just feel forced. I hate the fact that he does so many damn skits now. I just like to hear him come up with ways to curse at video games because I do the exact same thing when I play video games. It is something everyone can relate to.

^Only closest imitator is the Nostalgia Critic but he only does movies/TV. And even then his voice is annoying and he doesn't come nearly as close to AVGN in entertainment value.

Hilarious movie if you are a fan of his episodes (although I don't know why you would see it if you weren't a fan). Most of the humor came from A) All the different insults he came up with for different bad video games and B) Intentionally bad special effects. There were a few familiar faces but I was surprised that the guy that plays guitar and Mike Matei didn't have bigger roles -- it was clear that he hired professional actors to play certain parts and he clearly wasn't looking for Oscar nominated roles here so I'd think he'd go with fan favorites but whatever, it was still great. There are a ton of inside jokes and references to past episodes scattered throughout the movie (I was pleased to see a reference to my favorite episode "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties" in there) and a number of other people with internet TV shows (Like Nostalgia Critic and stuff) show up briefly. Good movie, so see it if you get the chance.
