Peyton Manning News...
Quote : | "In a move that indicates the concerns surrounding Peyton Manning may run deeper than originally thought, the Colts have signed veteran passers Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
The Colts continue to assert that Manning, recovering from knee surgery, will be all good to go well before the season starts, but this move adds experienced insurance policies should complications arise. Gray spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars, appearing in 11 games and starting four, all in 2007. He signed with the Texans as a free agent, but was released after failing to sufficiently pick up the offense during offseason workouts. Talk notes the signing of Lorenzen is not confirmed, though their source is reliable. The other quarterbacks on the roster are Jim Sorgi, Josh Betts, and rookie Adam Tafralis." |

imo, the surgery isn't too big a deal (unless something goes really wrong), since he doesn't really rely on mobility anyway.....but it'll be interesting to see how this affects his draft position (especially if he doesn't play at all in preseason). If this wouldn't have happened, he would be a late 1st, early 2nd lock....now maybe romo jumps ahead of him and I could see him slipping at least 1 whole round b/c of it

billy surprised me by keeping Witten... could see Romo... but I have a feeling everyone will be going after RB in the first, will be a lot more non RBs kept than ever before 7/24/2008 1:57:16 PM |

yeah, coulda picked witten back up in the 1 - 3 round of the draft. My strategy is to keep the 2 guys that would be most likely to be gone by the time I draft in the first round....the others I can re-draft if I want when the time comes. Im torn between keeping palmer, housh, welker and mcgahee....none of them are solid 1st round picks. I'm leaning toward housh and mcgahee, but I'm gonna try to wait and see who a few others are keeping to see who will be available in the re-draft. I'm thinking RB's are going to be thin in the draft too.

I would definitely do McGahee, and then I might actually do Palmer... you know Manning, Brady, and now Romo are going to be kept, so Palmer would give you the best remaining QB probably... could probably pick Housh back up in the 2nd 7/24/2008 2:40:34 PM |

We have one open spot in our league that has been going about 6 years now...
wlb420 and turnip joined last year years, boobs has been in for a couple of years.
only a very very serious, dedicated person please. Its a keeper league, 2 players each, any new people will get to pick their keepers from the dropped players (there will be plenty of good ones available).
the draft will be LIVE, in person on Saturday, August 16th in Raleigh so you must be available that day.
League entry fee will be $50 or $75 (league is voting on it now)
let me know if you are interested 7/28/2008 12:00:44 AM |

We now know Brett Favre is a Jet. This dramatically moves up the ADP (Average draft position) of Favre, Coles, Cotch, and Thomas Jones.
Especially Jones, who I can easily see having a Grant-esque year like 07-08 for the Packers. 8/6/2008 11:58:21 PM |
wlb420 All American 9053 Posts user info edit post |
imo, Jones was a strong sleeper before this anyway.....now he'll probably be taken too high.
jcotch is a solid #2 now with alot of upside (especially in return yard leagues) and coles goes from a questionable reserve to a good #3. 8/7/2008 11:12:35 AM |

Ok, doing a draft at work tomorrow, most of them have never been in a league before.
12 team league I randomly got the 1st pick, draft order snakes
I know a guy at #3 wants Brady
I thought about offering him the following: -Swap first rounders (so I would move down to #3 in the 1st) -Swap 2nd and 4th round picks (so I would move up 2 spots in each of those) -I would get his 3rd round pick.
So, I would gain a 3rd round pick, move up 2 spots in the 2nd and 4th and after he takes Brady I will have one of the following at #3 - Tomlinson, Westbrook, Petersen
So, think I should do it? and if the #2 person picks Tomlinson, should I get Westbrook or AP. (ppr league btw) 8/9/2008 8:01:33 PM |

Hell yeah you should do it. No question about that. And AP IMO. 8/10/2008 12:37:28 AM |

he didnt take it, but I did the same trade without the 3rd round pick and he did it.
So I dropped to 3rd in the first and got AP moved up in the 2nd and 4th 8/10/2008 7:59:34 PM |

QB- Cutler WR- Welker WR- Anthony Gonzalez RB- AP RB- Ryan Grant TE- Gates W/T- Marvin Harrison W/R- Michael Turner BN- Delhomme, Steve Smith, Rudi Johnson, Patrick Crayton
K- Mason Crosby Def- Minnesota, Tampa
Thats just my week one lineup, Ill consider swapping Delhomme back in after Smith returns. 8/12/2008 8:23:28 AM |

I took them round 7 - at that point San Diego, Jax, NE, Pitt and Dallas were all off the board. Some names who went round 7 after me were - Dwyane Bowe, Lee Evans, New York D, Hines Ward, Hasselbeck, Chicago D. Wasn't too crazy about what was available, decided to go for a D. Last year I had Tampa and Houston so I wanted to have at least one consistently decent D. 8/12/2008 10:40:19 AM |

Is Michael Turner gonna get most of the carries now? I think he is a big sleeper.... 8/12/2008 10:45:24 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
^^ Good lord, all of those Defenses were gone by Round 7? Damn. Based on the talent out there, the ADP in a 10 man league for the top defenses is falling around round 9 (8.5 - 9.5). Minnesota isn't bad to have, but I think there parts are better than the sum, aka they are overrated and play quite a few teams that should light them up.
^ Michael Turner will definitely be a beast, especially in PPR formats. The only big question with him right now is going to be "will he or norwood get the goal line carries?". Not like there will many in ATL though. 8/12/2008 11:56:49 AM |

is steve slaton worth a last round gamble?
well anyways i did.
league with forced 2qb, 5wr, 4rb, 2te, 2k, 2def/st draft. start 1qb, 3 wr, 2 rb 1 te, 1 def, 1 k (no flex)
unfortunately it was a keeper league, with 3 new players, but only one keeper per team.
RB Marshawn Lynch (keeper pool pick) Ronnie Brown (2) Matt Forte (8) Steve Slaton (17)
WR Andre Johnson (3) Marvin Harrison (4) Brandon Marshall (5) Vincent Jackson (9) Reggie Brown (12)
TE Heath Miller (6) Vernon Davis (10)
QB David Garrard (7) Jake Delhomme (11)
D/ST Packers (13) Jets (16)
K Kris Brown (14) Jason Hanson (15)
Weird league, dont like the scoring..joined to help a friend out to get an even number, decent pool though with players that dont know what a football looks like.
for qbs 1pt/25 yds, 4pts per thrown td (devalues qbs like crazy, except for mobile qbs) for tes tds are 8 pts (wtf?) greatly overvalues players like witten

P.Riv, Holt, Cotch... you would think I was a homer 8/17/2008 10:27:55 PM |

QB: Carson Palmer Jake Delhomme
RB: LT Deangelo Williams Felix Jones Ray Rice

Holy Shit....This could be big.
Quote : | "The News It's looking more and more like Ricky Williams will at least begin the season as the Dolphins' workhorse running back, according to the Miami Herald. Williams has looked good this offseason and in the preseason, and Ronnie Brown is coming back from a torn ACL and now has a thumb injury to deal with.
The Herald suggests that Brown will be worked in sparsely in the first few weeks, but he's likely to assume at least half of the workload once he gets back up to full speed. However, Ricky may just run away with the starting job. You might want to swap Ricky and Ronnie in your rankings." |
Take it with a grain of Salt, but this seems like a reasonable scenario due to how well Ricky is playing.8/18/2008 5:40:36 PM |

PPR League:
QB- Marc Bulger, Philip Rivers, Jeff Garcia RB- Frank Gore RB- Marion Barber RB/WR - Thomas Jones, Kenny Watson, Ahman Green WR- Torry Holt WR- Chad Johnson W/TE- Jerricho Cotchery, Marvin Harrison, Patrick Crayton K- Josh Scobee Def- DeMarcus Ware, Adrian Wilson, Lance Briggs, Bob Sanders

So I have two offers eseentially for Calvin Johnson (who I am not really keen to give up)
Calvin Johnson & Jake Delhomme for Joey Galloway & Phillip Rivers
another offer
Calvin Johnson & Kellen Winslow for Chad Johnson & Alge Crumpler
I already have Carson Palmer at QB, Bubba Franks as Back up TE. I also already have Antonio Bryant as back up WR. I am leaning towards the Ocho Cinco & Crumpler trade. Thoughts? Rest of my roster is above.
