ok, here are some pics, finally! We still need to put stuff up on the walls, but that's my wife's job. I don't do that kind of stuff. I still need to replace the outlet covers with something other than white, but I haven't found one that I really like yet. I might just go with simple brown or black plastic.

I don't like to use "pimp" as an adjective, but.

You need a smoking jacket, now.

very nice! One reason I wanted pictures is that what you have done to that room is really similar to something I have had in mind once we get a house haha. Not a bar in my case, but I wanted to make a nice "reading room." The colors and style you have going on in that room seemed to be a visual representation similar to what I had in my mind for my reading room

The red, once in full light, seems slightly lighter/brighter than I had in mind but I had either a white or wood stained wainscoting envisioned with it like you have. In addition to that, I had a table for my turntable in mind right where you have the table with those two plants. On either side of that I wanted to get two big, nice bookshelves, and wanted to put a nice desk where you have the bar. I was also thinking of going with two separate armchairs of a similar color to the 2 person couch/loveseat you have in front of those windows. But your room gave me a good real life example of what I had in mind haha.

^^^

The room's actually much much darker than the pictures make it appear. I had to open up the aperture and crank the shutter speed all the way to make the photos turn out like that.

The first picture is more representative of the actual tone of the paint, but even in that picture i was letting the most light in possible.

ah ok that makes sense. I was wondering because in the first stain pictures you posted, it looked much darker. looks great though.

Bobby - since your place looks awesome now, I would like to take over your thread and request ideas for my place. Please note that these pictures are from when I first moved in, and the terrible green color is no longer present.

First - I posted in the Home Ownership Woes thread, but I have a pantry/laundryroom that I'd like to update. Shelves are currently built in, thinking of new shelves or a cupboard type fixture to put in. Thoughts?

Also, I have a vanity that is built into one of the bedrooms (don't ask me why). Any ideas on ripping it out and making the space usable? It is next to a walk-in closet.

the pantry from my childhood was awesome, which is what i would do with your pantry as it definitely looks large enough w/o taking away from the laundry part (that I can tell from the picture at least).

one of walls in our pantry had two shelves w/ a lot of height for large pots and other items, and a 3rd slanted shelf for canned goods. it's the slanted shelf that's key. below that was a cabinet...but I loved that slanted shelf.

as far as the vanity goes, since I'm a lady I would keep it

I have a cabinet that I'm going to sand/strip, re-stain/paint, change the hardware, and maybe install glass panels in the cabinet doors...

Here's the cabinet now...I purchased it this color ~3 years ago at a yard sale. The paint job is terrible.

I may go w/ a natural stain depending on how it looks when I've stripped and sanded, but I'm also really feeling this look
