My mom is always yelling at me to stand up straight. It annoys me to hell but it's probably good advice.

Best advice thus far from my future father-in-law: "If my son gives you any trouble, just tell him to go to hell."

Seriously being as attractive as joie is and not being a completely self centered bitch must be difficult because not many women seem to be able to pull it off.

^ Maybe true, but seriously, many men aren't able to pull it off either (yes men can be self-centered bitches)

^^No, I'm actually very nice and have more than enough patience. Just saying in my experience it's the ones who push, yell and shove that always seem to get their way first.

theres a difference in being assertive and bold from being just straight out mean and having bad intentions.

i'm just saying that anyone who sets out with the intention to hurt someone
or is just ....mean.
or holds grudges.
or judges.
i dont want to hang around.

ive just noticed that most people who think being nice wont get you anywhere are the type who backstab to get where they want. the ones who tried to do something nice ONCE and it never got him or her anywhere, so they gave up on it.

I agree with this too. I always try to be nice and i always seem to get back stabbed or walked on for it but i believe in 2 things that make me ok with this, forgiveness and karma... Or i guess faith that they will get theirs w/o me having to give it to them.

My mom says "Remember, one drink a day is good for you. Anything beyond that is bad."

That's some advice I never heeded.

"life's not fair...deal with it"

Dad really managed my expectations with this one. Even after college, A LOT of my friends still have trouble with this one somehow. Glad I learned it young.

My mom also says: "Your friend died in a car wreck yesterday? Why are you crying? Just get over it. It's not worth crying about."

I kept crying, much to her dismay.

"Don't do drugs. No, seriously, it's a waste of time. Pot makes you sleepy, mushrooms make you puke, and LSD makes you light-headed, but I had to really concentrate hard to hallucinate something. Stick to beer, it's in your blood."
