That was almost 2 minutes of pure fucking AWESOME. I am stoked for now. I didn't even have sound and it was awesome. The trailer's grainy touch seemed very Rob Zombiesque.


I hope the director rumor isn't true, but if it is Lionsgate has put out some pretty violent stuff so i could see them keeping with the formula

the 2004 was rated R, but it was sooooo light hearted, when its source is one of the darkest comic book characters ever, so if it was gonna be R they should have gone all out (like the new one looked like it was trying to do), it just didn't feel like punisher. they had some good ideas, like forcing his enemy to murder his own wife, that is dark, but with the fat neighbor, love story, the little informant dude, it just wasn't dark at all, and not enough time was spent on him acutally punishing people (fucking people up)

Yeah, but see, those characters are straight out of Welcome Back, Frank, which Garth Ennis wrote. (Spacker) Dave does indeed not give Frank up to the mobsters who figure out where he's living, and he is "de-jewelryed" for it. Frank actually uses Bumpo's fat ass to smother the Russian to death (except he winds up coming back later). (Mousy) Joan is the exception as she is extremely timid and completely introverted. She's the only one who makes an appearance in a later Punisher story, though, as her guard dog is one of the most badassed animals in any book I've ever read. (It's a fucking standard sized Schnauzer who faces down a bull mastiff and rips its tongue out. Remember kids, it's not the size of the dog in the fight so much as it is the size of the fight in the dog. Hooah.) But I digress. Even the informant guy is taken directly out of War Zone, as Frank "tortures" him with a popsicle. Even though the 2004 movie gets panned for not being "Punisher" enough, a lot of people don't realize that so much of it was taken page for page out of the various books...

This business about the director being sacked and the movie being watered down, though, is complete bullshit. What's going to annoy me most about this is that Thomas Jane will have been right all along and will be able to say "I told you so." That's a damn shame because I really thought he did a great job in the 2004 movie, and I was kinda hoping he'd be proven wrong that this new movie would actually portray the super violent and vindictive Punisher that the first one should have been.

Out of curiosity, how many of you read the Punisher MAX books? I've got 'em all so far.

The unrated trailer is awesome. Nothing but metal and violence. But I don't think I will ever feel the need to sit through this movie again, even for free.

As far as comic movies goes this is up there with a Joel Schumacher Batman film in cheesy acting but far more violent. I think I might prefer the 80's Dolf version to this one.
