haha, huh?

In America, yes... but the top International Soccer players make far more than any NFL player... and get far more endorsements too.

*** You can argue about the merits of the sport all you want, but that is a fact...

There is professional level soccer in the US? You must mean we can watch soccer from euro and latin american leagues on TV, because nobody in their right mind would call MLS "professional level soccer"

MLS is the caliber of something between the second and third level of English soccer.

As far as money goes, Real Madrid are offering $107 million just for Cristiano's contract rights.

I broke an opponent's leg once playing soccer, and I also once knocked out a goalie by kneeing him right in the eye socket. Soccer is serious business.

I got kicked in the face facing a breakaway and got a grade two concussion and a greenstick jaw fracture.

Stopped the shot, though. They couldn't pry the ball out of my arms while I was unconcious.

if only soccer players needed a 5 minute break between plays and wore pads head to toe Then they'd be real men

nah, they just flopped

any sport in which you have to brag about injuries you caused and not your skill at the game

is a lame sport

you probably caused more injuries than youve seen points scored

I don't see how anyone can watch american football. every 2 seconds there is a 5 minute break so the dumb fat asses can catch their breath and figure out what to do next.

Rugby > american football as far as contact sports go.

they dont take breaks in rugby at all

you cant take a debate about soccer and bring rugby into it

rugby is the shit

lacrosse is a hell of a sport too, you dont see Armando out there floppin with his ponytailed mullet

and they score points

Quote :

its so difficult to decide whether to dive to the right or dive to the left during a penalty shot

thats bout the dadblam extent of thought in a soccer game...and its HIGH pressure too because by that point most likely no one has scored shit and everyone has wasted 3 hours of their time

i make it point to turn these young boys into men

and get them off this soccer crap

you should be done playin soccer by the time you stop watching Channel 1

and you shouldnt be watching soccer until you have 4 year old children playing rec league

u can let em play up until middle school, but you shouldnt be watching them play after theyve turned 6 or so

Bunch of flopping, diving, faking pussies.

Soccer desperately needs to get over itself and add a couple more officials and instant replay. It's pathetic just how much diving and faking have turned a really enjoyable game into an acting contest. There's just no way that one referee can cover the necessary ground to ever have a well officiated contest.

Oh, and let's go ahead and stop pretending soccer players are tough. It's about the same as basketball on the tough scale. It's way, way, way behind football, rugby, australian rules football, hurling, etc.

i'm sure getting kicked in the knee sucks

but not as much as having a 335 pound defensive end who runs a 4.6 40 yard dash slam his entire body's momentum into your knee

give soccer players credit though

they heal faster from on-field injuries than any other athlete

i mean GODDDD damn, sometimes in a matter of SECONDS they go from rolling around and crying in obvious pain to jumping up and missing another goal by 20 feet!

its like Jesus touched em

i'll agree some soccer players are pussies and divers. those videos show the worst of the worst.

to be fair though, football players do the same thing (although not to the extreme shown above) receivers, corners, etc trying to get pass int. calls. - that's just as bad as a little acting on a soccer field.

Given how thin his cleats are, it would really fucking hurt to be stepped on. Im not supporting his theatrics once on the grouind, but its worth getting up and stepping gingerly once or twice (i cant believe i used that word)

I dont think that bball is sigificantly more tough than soccer. You need to be bigger, yes. Though the contact in both are highly regulated by the rules.

The game itself can be rough. TONS of acting though

i didn't say football players wiggle around on the ground like a fuckin' idiot. i conceded some dumbass soccer players do.

i don't see how i'm feigning my objectivity here, i could care less what you guys think of soccer, i'm just saying i see acting in both sports. and i'm sure i never said there was more acting in football. there's tons more in soccer.

football players dont act like they got hurt 1) because there is no advantage to be gained by doing it, and 2) they're not cunts

If Tom Brady gets sacked by Dwight Freeney and then rolls around on the ground crying, you can rest assured he's hurt for real

prolly been said before in teh thread, but just because a player flops like "cronaldo," doesn't mean that the sport is for pussies.

examples:

hansbrough flops every play but bball ain't a pussy sport

quarterbacks slide, running backs run out of bounds, doesn't mean football is a pussy sport

sliding and running out of bounds are not feigning injuries that magically heal instantaneously

they arent things that are wasting the viewing audience's time

I disagree with the football comparison.

Does anyone remember Willie McGinest when he faked the injury vs. the Colts (5 years ago?) to get the timeout

Same thing, except there are more instances where it would help in soccer
