No Brad & Britt love in this thread. I wish that I had a way to listen to the radio on my motorcycle on my way home from work in the mornings and they haven't joined the 21st century to stream their show online where I could at least catch the first two hours while still at work. When I drove my truck I would switch between them and NPR. Now I just get my news in the morning by staring at Robin Meade's breasts. 6/30/2008 10:34:44 AM |

i listen to showgram from greensboro. im also a radio addict, i have it on over 12 hours a day
but i listen to talk radio from 10 on, and all of it is politically biased (both sides) radio (except for clark howard)... so g105 is my little block of funny radio, and i need that in the morning.
when they got suspended, i wrote their boss a pretty serious email (as far as I go, serious) offering my support, and stating that i would boycott g105 and its advertisers if they were fired. i also wrote the native american association and a few others, i took that whole thing seriously, as i am the defender of basic rights. love the show or hate it, what they said was their right to say, and i got really pissed when they were silenced.
first randi west sent a form letter, then a personal reply and assurance that they were not losing their jobs over that crap.. and its just a silly radio show
then when they got back to work, randi gave them all the emails she got regarding them.. and bob (and kristin) both took time to write personal thank you emails, thanking me for the support and letting me know that they understood and appreciated the fact that i took the time to protect their rights and their jobs. hardly "high horse"
MORAL OF THE STORY: bob sure seems down to earth to me, and is a very modest guy. in fact, he sees himself as less of a celebrity as i do... so i'm gonna have to call bullshit on this thread. ive never seen him want anything other than the same rights we all have.
and if this is about some RPD bullshit, get over it. they're all on 2 week vacation, so if you heard him bitching about RPD, that was from a year ago. and i bitch about cops too, that doesnt mean that i think im a celebrity.
i'd love to hear what this is over 6/30/2008 10:39:33 AM |

I mean hell, they put a midget in a refrigerator to scare the receptionist. It doesn't get any funnier than that. 6/30/2008 10:58:08 AM |

bob off the air is one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met. bob on the air is a character playing a particular role. The point is that he can turn it on and off. He is able to be that person on the air without it bleeding into his daily life. No one would want to be a colossal asshole like that all the time.
Sadly, that description does not apply to everyone at smoketree. 6/30/2008 12:16:53 PM |

I have always thought Bob was such an asshole. And his voice bugged the crap out of me for the longest time. I had not listened to the show in years before this past semester, and I actually started listening to it occasionally again. Then I heard them mention something about his health a few months back. Maybe that's what it took for him to become somewhat different. Moral of the story: I couldn't stand him for the longest time, but now he is better. I still have to change it when he gets on his rants because he gets that "voice" back that makes me want to rip my radio out of the dash. Oh, and he thinks he coined the term "That's what I'm talking about.", thats pretty annoying. Oh and they play "Its Geting Hot in Here" every morning!!! STOP IT!
TWO GUYS NAMED CHRIS IS THEEEE BEST MORNING SHOW EVER THOUGH! Rock 92! It just sucks that not all of Raleigh can pick it up.

NPR is great if you want to take a nap
[Edited on June 30, 2008 at 12:39 PM. Reason : it's like the golf of radio...some people like it but most just turn it on to sleep] 6/30/2008 12:39:04 PM |

I listen to them when I can, and Bob is actually a great guy. He and his family are frequent shoppers at the store where I work. They are the most polite and kind family we have in the store. His girls are so well mannered, and all of them treat our store with respect. I wish all of our customers were more like them! 6/30/2008 12:50:17 PM |

i don't really care what they're like in real life. i'm sure they're all super duper. but i just don't like the radio show i think it is idiotic. the only time i listen is when i drive from raleigh to gboro early early in the morning because it keeps me awake more than cds which can make me zone out. turning the show gram up loud makes it literally impossible to fall asleep 6/30/2008 1:13:32 PM |
