Thanks for the fucking heads up, dickwad. It's not like the year is next to the title or anything.

I dont know a single person who hasnt seen the following:

Star Wars
The Wizard of Oz
Pulp Fiction
The Shawshank Redemption
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jaws

That leaves just two more that you had to have seen....

I know what I said, I was remarking that movies lately suck really bad.

This is a movie thread, and it was a movie commentary. What's the problem with that, Mr. Post Policeman?

Your post implies that movies previously made are superior to new ones. Yet, you haven't seen a good number of movies on this list (a best of the old).

Star Wars - yes
The Wizard of Oz - no
Pulp Fiction - yes
The Shawshank Redemption -no
Raiders of the Lost Ark - yes
Jaws - no

And I just saw Raiders of The Last Aark and Pulp Fiction within the past year.

So?

If I've seen 8 movies from the list and 8 movies that have come out in the past few years, can I not draw a comparison?

I've seen about 10 minutes of it, I would hardly consider that seeing a movie.

I really wouldn't consider having viewed a second of a movie as having seen it. If that were the case, I'd have a bunch more on my list.

I would... maybe you didnt like it and turned if off... I still count that as seeing it.

Literally a second, as in flipping through with the remote, no, but seeing it long enough to make the decision that you didnt want to keep watching it, counts for me

Can't say I really enjoyed anything on that list.

Wait i think ive seen like 2 minutes at a time of shawshank redemption 100 times on TNT for the past 9 nine years before i change the channel. Does that count?

I've seen parts of some of the others. I don't remember a good bit of spartacus - had to watch it in latin class 9th grade. The Sound of Music - I *think* I've watched it all. It comes on at christmas, so I keep the TV on for the music. Between a couple years of that, knowing the story, and watching part of it in 97, I think I've seen all of it...Just not in one sitting

I only saw star wars this past year. Caught the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark a couple weekends ago. Seen a few pieces of The Wizard of Oz.

i went through a phase where i tried to watch every movie on that list about 4 years ago. a lot of the older movies lose their punch over time mainly because what was original in 1947 has been redone and overused so much since then that its become worthless. but within the timeframe of 1947 it was amazing. if you can recognize that you can enjoy greats like rearview mirror and vertigo and such (both of which i loved)

58. The Gold Rush, 1925.
61. Sullivan's Travels, 1941.
82. Sunrise, 1927.
85. A Night at the Opera, 1935.
88. Bringing Up Baby, 1938.

^ Citizen Kane holds up really well... there is some shit in there that wasnt redone until the 1980s

i tried to do that with the imdb top 250 list before it got gayed up with lord of the rings and crap movies like that. while they may not be bad movies, they don't deserve to be in the top 250... they havent been tested by time yet
