Yeah it was pretty weird/freaky. Hard to laugh afterwards, but we went out for a smoke and we saw him and he looked fine. We all guessed that he had just to much to drink. Made for an interesting story and good standup though.

I saw dave attel, lewis black, and mitch hedberg in san diego back in 2004. It was great overall, but I was really disappointed with hedberg's live performance after watching him on tv. He was so fucked up that he repeated a few jokes 3 and 4 times in his 40 minute set, and didnt even remember when some people in the audience called him out on it. After that, I was not surprised one bit when I heard he died a year later.

^^Was pretty packed for the 8pm show, but the layout of the place is comfortable even w/ a lot of people. If you have a big group I'd get there a bit early and make sure you get a spot so you can all be together, I am sure that it will be packed if the 8pm on friday was.

We got there around 20 minutes early(7:40ish) got a table and then went downstairs and had a drink.

I didn't like Daniel's material as much as his Comedy Central stuff. He said that he didn't like playing clubs much and at times it didn't seem like he wanted to be there.

^Yeah the guy opening up was pretty good.

Just getting back from the show, it was fucking awesome. A lot of the stuff he did tonight was centered on being in the south and very funny shit, plus he included a couple of test jokes that were just awful, as in dead baby joke awful

There was the Star Wars guy who opened the entire show who was really funny, and then some shitbag of a bum who tried to open. That second guy was complete shit.

One of my new favorites is Big Jay Oakerson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ehmpO3qQJ8

A couple weeks after seeing him the first time I saw him hanging around outside one of the comedy clubs, said hello and that he was hilarious, so he got me in for free...so moral of that story...he's a nice guy and yes you can touch me

Looks like all four of his shows are sold out now. How early should we be getting there? We aren't eating at the Grille or Bar but I don't want to be at the last table either.

Norm delivered on Friday night. He had a 15 minute joke about the layout of Charlie Goodnights that had me rolling. There were a couple of "Artie Lange!" and "BabaBooey!" shout-outs but he ignored them.

Haha, yeah he did that bit about Goodnights Saturday night as well. I wouldn't have gotten the joke if I hadn't gone to the bathroom just before the show and I found out it was outside the building .

There were some annoying shout outs during the show that he ignored too. Some old guy kept shouting 'Nice suit!' and eventually was told to shut up by the ushers, and near the end of the show (Norm went all the way to like 9:50, next show was at 10:15) someone was shouting out 'Billy!'. There were a couple of audience responses that Norm acknowledged and put into his act.

Daniel Tosh is coming back to Raleigh in October. I didn't even realize he had his own show on comedy central now. Anyone seen it?

I'll never understand the obsession with Dave Attell. I know on Sirius comedy stations he's a god on the request hour.

I saw him live a few months ago because some friends wanted to go...I've heard him on Sirius Raw Dog comedy a blazillion times.... i just don't find him funny. Same with Dane Cook (At least Attell can make me laugh, Cook is horrendous)

I'm not a big comedy buff, but some names that come to mind (modern comedians)

John Caparulo
Rodney Carrington
Daniel Tosh
Louis CK
John Reep

^^ Skanks for the Memories was a classic stand-up special...I still quote jokes from that one. He still has some good jokes, but overall his stand-ups since that one have been kinda "meh".

Got to see Hannibal Buress do about an hour and half of stand-up last night. Was pretty solid. I was about 98% sure I saw him open up for Dave Chappelle at Charlie Goodnight's 10+ years ago and remember thinking that he stole the show...but that would have made him 21, so I don't know if that's correct...was probably one the guys on the Chappelle show at the time. He was good again last night, but he was sick and shit and kept coughing and swallowing back mucus during the whole act. I felt bad for him, but it definitely messed up his flow.

Just made me wish I got the chance to see more good acts on a regular basis. John Mulaney has a show tonight...but I'm old and can't do two nights in a row.

Oh...he got Lasik and it was weird seeing him without glasses.

he was never a part of Chappelles Show

nobody has made me laugh harder in person, though. he's also perfect on the Eric Andre Show and Broad City.

He was awesome at Lincoln last year (?). Eric Andre is the best thing on TV right now. Anonymous fools should post good recent comedy albums ITT. Patton Oswalt's from last year was dope
