i just wish that the 4 kittens would come out of their hole

basically they are in this ground water retention pond that has a 6 foot wall all the way around it so it doesnt collapse. their hole is under one wall. their mom is in a trap behind the open traps for the kittens but i have yet to see them today.

it is a pain in the ass to crawl around all that brush that is overgrown in the retention pond and i have to get them today because it is going to rain tomorrow and when it rains that thing floods.

well i got one kitten about 10 last night...since then i have picked up 2 different possums (or the same one twice, they looked pretty stupid) and the same orange tabby that i trapped a couple nights ago

hopefully, i get the other 3 kittens when they come out for breakfast

Hatteras Island has a resident feral cat who are decendents of the survivors of shipwrecks...I think there they have a program around Buxton to catch, neuter, tag, & release them

Feral cats give normal house pet cats incurable diseases like Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS. so i understand why people want to get rid of the feral cats around their neighborhood

but what that guy was doing was just cruel and twisted. he's the kind of person who turns out to be a serial killer/rapist/torturer later in life.

so my question to LivinProof78 is, what the fuck is wrong with you, that you would date such a guy for two years?

I rescued a stray cat with a really badly broken leg (bone sticking out) and took him to Safe Haven.

It took like 5 days to catch him, he refused to go into the cage. We ended up catching a raccoon two nights in a row

Anyhoo, the people at Safe Haven were able to help him (neuter, shots, amputate what was left of his leg), and last I heard, he was up for adoption.

well i tried to just brute force the issue with no success

they sorta trapped themselves but before i could get to the underground pipe to move them towards the cage, i think that they left

there are just two left, and they are moving together...im going to check the traps in a couple of hours to see what i get

it is almost impossible to rescue a feral cat because if they dont run away after being caught, they will always be wild. thats why the government and public services kill any feral cat caught, trapped, or brought in


also they are more prone to be infected and wont live long. plus if they get out, they will create more feral cats when mating. its just a cycle and if they can rescue cats that have been just left behind, then fine. but kill anything wild because there is no hope for them and possible negative effects on things.

yeah, i hear you

if these kittens cant be socialized, they will be spayed/neutered and released becoming part of the managed colony. this will keep the disease and issues out of this area because of how territorial cats can be. and if they are FeIV or FeL positive, they get put down immediately.

We had a couple lectures on maintaining feral colonies in vet school and they agreed with your approach 100%.

But trapping and not releasing, more cats will just move in to fill the vacancy left by the colony. It's best to trap/alter/release.

well im supposed to go shooting, and i just found out my buddy wants to shoot at the feral cats that have taken over their kennel and are getting the dogs sick

1000 bucks to have someone remove them

or 5 bucks in .22 ammo.
