My stalker got engaged.

I sort of felt like she was only contacting me as a last ditch effort because she was hoping I'd have a change of heart. What part of "Don't ever contact me again" gets overruled when you get engaged?

An ex from high school just got married and bought a house... It is kinda weird to think about but it doesnt mean I have ANY desire to run out and get married myself

My freshman year I lived with a roomate in the dorms. That doesn't really count as being an "independent adult" though. I started living off campus with my fiance during my sophomore year and have been living with her for 3 years.

I didn't get to live the "typical" college lifestyle where you live with some buddies that stay up late every night and dirty up the house/apartment. Instead I was able to live in a quiet clean apartment throughout college. I could go to bed early when I wanted to without having to listen to loud music coming from another room. I was still able to party and go out when I wanted and I did plenty of that.

Living with my fiance rather than a bunch of buddies for the last 3 years has helped me be more of an "adult", helped my grades and my health.

Yeah, you pretty much proved my point.

There is something to be said for discovering who you are before you can find someone that compliments that.

I have a couple of exes that are married now.

It makes me feel strange. Like I should grow up or something.

But instead, I prefer to live the life of a 19 year old.

Depends on your opinion of an independent adult. Living with my fiance is not like living with my parents where I have all these rules to abide by. It's been like living with a best friend. We hang out with each other a lot but we still have our own lives and hang out with other people.

If by independent adult you mean I never got to play the field, then sure I agree with you. I never got to date or mess around with many girls but I don't regret it. Anyone who knows my fiance will tell you that she is a gold mine and I am extremely lucky to be with her.

You and many other people might need to find themselves. I am secure with who I am right now and I know that my fiance compliments me.

^^ People also don't change at all. I discovered that after moving from Raleigh and going back for Christmas two years later

A couple months ago I found out one of my ex's was seriously ill & I felt grateful that it didn't happen while I was with her

No worries, she's all better now, but it would've sucked having to spend so much time at the hospital with her & then having to tell her that it wasn't her, its me

I saw a guy walking down the street yesterday in a pimped out rhinestone shirt that said, "It's not you it's me." I would bet money he didn't even know what the shirt meant
