I don't think anyone here would seriously want to take a person's life. It's the threat of being harmed or having a loved one harmed that forces this kind of consideration.

For my part, I think I'd be better able to live with myself if I merely had to cope with seriously maiming another human being. Taking a life would absolutely be the very last alternative for me.
