I have a relatively new policy of not spending any more on a girl per hour than I make at work in an hour

sometimes it's nice... not excessive, but not worrying about the bill for a night like getting a bottle of wine, dessert, and after dinner drinks for no good reason -- that's the good type of blowing money. it can be just as fun to go for a long walk through the park in the middle of the night for free, though

maybe im going on a bunch of "grown up" dates but a normal evening out can easily get to $50-100 without anyone "showing off"

its not about that, but i'm saying you can do dinner, drinks & a show or movie and you're already nudging $100 for 2 people

i really don't count $50-100 "a lot" of money...i'd imagine amsterdam easily spent over that on just drinks and desert. what i'm saying is that it's not impressive when someone spends what (to them) seems like a good deal of money - it can be a nice gesture, but it isn't going to get anyone (decent) into bed.

I took a Meridith chick to Mac Grill once and afterward I got a "you don't have to impress me by taking me to nice restaurants" comment.

I was dumbfounded. Literally, speechless for about 5 seconds. I didn't know whether to tell her if she thought Mac Grill was nice then I might as well take her home or what.

I think we ended up hanging out awhile after that, but I started getting typical crazy Meridith girl vibes, so I peaced out.

i think that a lot of them like having you spend money on them UNTIL it becomes a shared checkbook. at that point your ass is eating ham sandwiches for dinner.

but there are also a decent amount who don't care. i learned how to weed out the parasitic chicks years ago when i didnt work or have money. i was a gold digging bitch for a long time, hahah. then again half of them are gonna try to change you and they'll only put up with your broke ass for so long

hmm i guess it is about money on some level, but its probably just a need to feel protected in most chicks and nothing sinister.

That's about right.

A "showing off" would be:

Nice restaurant with different wines pairings with the different courses. A round of a couple deserts with desert cocktails. Then a night cap drink or two. Probably in the $150 - $225 range...going higher if you get a baller bottle of wine. In addition to the "showing off" would be to know peeps at the restaurant and get the "treatment."
